HOMEGROWN ROCKER 7/3/16 (RON HENRY)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the July 3 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

Thanks to our guests this week, Ron Henry and Matt Folk, for appearing and performing on our program! Ron, former member of Hollowpoint and Snapdragons, updated us on his current solo career and new thrash metal-geared project Psycho Prophecy. And assisted by Matt, Ron performed six of his original songs live! Since Ron was our guest, we dug into his past for a 2000 live track by Hollowpoint for this week's "Local Music Flashback!" Along the way, we updated "Local Music News," and introduced new songs from the Ethan Jano Band, Jack Servello, Raven and the Wren and Empire In Decline!

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

MAKING STATE - "All I Need"
JIM DONOVAN & THE SUN KING WARRIORS - "Oolalala"
RON HENRY - "Pain" (performed live in the studio)
THE ETHAN JANO BAND - "Same Old Melody"
RON HENRY - "Long Road" (performed live in the studio)
JACK SERVELLO - "When the Bagpipes Play Amazing Grace"
RON HENRY - "Stoned Cold Dead" (performed live in the studio)
ROADSIDE FUNERAL - "Dried Leaves"
RAVEN AND THE WREN - "Lost and Found"

HOUR TWO:

CHRIS BELL - "Whole Lotta Whiskey"
DOUG IRWIN - "River Queen"
RON HENRY - "Just a Memory" (performed live in the studio)
EMPIRE IN DECLINE - "Respect the Way It Goes"
RON HENRY - "It Hurts" (performed live in the studio)
HOLLOWPOINT - "Revelation's End" (live) (2000, Local Music Flashback)
RON HENRY - "One Minute in Hell" (performed live in the studio)
THE WRECKERS - "Best Days"

On our next program, we will again check on the show's mailboxes to see what new recordings have arrived recently, and air a number of new tunes on the program! Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," and dig out a "Local Music Flashback" from the archive!

Upcoming guests and specials include:

JULY 17 - Native Alloys
AUG. 7 - Fast Forward Special
AUG. 14 - Small Town Horror Show
AUG. 21 - Shannon & the Merger

(All dates are subject to changes as circumstances warrant.)
