Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the May 22 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.
Thanks to our guests, Chip Jabs, accompanied by Jym Brantner, who visited the studio and performed for us! A former member of Even As We Speak (who were guests on the "Homegrown Rocker" in the early 2000s), Chip discussed his new solo endeavor, Jabs, and he and Jym played six of Chip's newer original songs. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Chris Bell, Craig Kelley, Nick Stahlman and Hot Jam Factory. We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2002 song by Chip and Even As We Speak for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and reviewed Roger Hammer's Up in the Air CD in "The Professor's CD Corner!"

In area music personnel moves, Lewistown rockers Junkhouse have added new bass player Bob Frye to their lineup.
The acoustic duo of Heidi Beatty and Rob Berkheimer have announced a name for their pairing, the Bea Trees.
And the new band featuring Rue Moyer, Brian Pavlik, Jarrett Bickel and Rob Bonsell has christened themselves with the name Electrify the Farm.
The Western PA music scene recently lost a friend whose talents graced stages throughout the region. Gene Peterson passed away at a Latrobe hospital on May 12 at age 84. Gene frequently appeared at festivals and jam sessions armed with his saxophone, clarinet, harmonica or flute. We at the "Homegrown Rocker" extend our sympathies to Gene's surviving wife and family.
And a special memorial jam night has been set up to celebrate the life and musical talents of Johnstown's Frank Genovese, who passed away last month. The Frank Genovese Memorial Bash will take place on Sunday night, May 29 at Southmont Gardens in Johnstown. The music will kick off at 7 p.m., and will be hosted by The Desperadoes. Area musicians are welcome to take part, and celebrate the life, music and memory of Frank.
