On our next program, the ukulele takes the spotlight, as well as a local organization and upcoming special event that celebrate the instrument! The Allegheny Ukulele Kollective - a group of area ukulele enthusiasts who get together for jam sessions twice a month and bring renowned ukulele performers to the area for concerts - will present their third annual Ukulele Soiree event in April, a three-day gathering featuring workshops, open mics, vendors, and nightly concerts. Mike Holzer and Louise Troxell from the Kollective will discuss the Soiree with us, and two Soiree guests - Gerald Ross and Mim of Mim's Ukes - will join us via phone to offer their thoughts on the Soiree and their love of the ukulele. Along the way, we will update "Local Music News," and dig into the archive for a "Local Music Flashback." And we will try to spotlight other local and regional music with a ukulele touch as well! The ukulele takes center stage on our next program!
