Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the October 4 edition of 105.9 Qwik-Rock's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Lion Country's Rock Station, 105.9 Qwik-Rock. The show can also be streamed via Qwik's website, www.1059qwikrock.com.

We broke open some more new recordings that have arrived in recent days, and debuted new tunes from The Semi-Supervillains, Kelley Plante, Joy Ike, Miss Melanie & the Valley Rats, Strait & Miller and MFG! We also updated "Local Music News," dug a 2001 song by Balistic from the archive for this week's "Local Music Flashback," and stepped "Across State Lines" to hear music from Omaha, Nebraska rockers Screaming for Silence.

The "Ease the Payne" benefit concert is happening at this hour (October 4) at 30 Something in Altoona, raising money to help pay funeral costs for 100 Proof singer RJ Payne's father, Art Payne. Performing at the benefit are the bands Texas Whiskey Authority, 100 Proof, Locked and Loaded and This Albatross. There are also giveaways and basket drawings. Donation is $5 per person at the door.
After a short hiatus, Harrisburg area-based Godsmack tribute group Voodoo has announced their return with a new singer, former Blackjack and Back Alley Empire member John Yohe. He replaces Joel Turnbaugh, who is stepping away from the microphone to pursue other interests. Voodoo will make their official return on New Year's Eve at Tubby's in Duncannon, and will play a limited schedule of show dates upon their return.
The Chris Bell Band is recording a new CD. According to Chris, the working title of the new disc is Moonshine High. No word yet on a possible release date for the album.
And a Kickstarter fundraising effort is under way to bring the story of a popular Lehigh Valley musician to the theatrical stage. Funds are being raised to bring to life the musical Living Here in Allentown, which is a musical biography about the life of singer and songwriter Steve Brosky, set against the backgrop of Allentown and featuring Brosky's music. For more information about the fundraising effort and project, go to Steve Brosky's page on www.kickstarter.com.
