Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 27 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com). The show can also be streamed via either Rocky website, www.rocky1049.com or www.rocky99.com.
Thanks to this week’s guests via phone, Pittsburgh modern rockers The Daily Grind (http://www.dailygrindmusic.com/), for introducing us to their musical world! We learned the group’s story, and heard tracks from them, including tunes from their latest recording, The Green Plan! In addition, we previewed next weekend’s annual AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival in Johnstown by hearing music from a number of performers who will appear during this year’s Festival. We debuted tracks from Festival performers City Dwelling Nature Seekers, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, The Weathered Road, Neon Swing X-Perience and Grand Piano, and also played another new song from The Clarks! We also updated “Local Music News,” dug a 2001 song by The Indifferents from the archive for this week’s “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed American Babies’ latest full-length album, Knives and Teeth, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”

In Local Music News…
A young area musician and performing artist is doing the choreography for a special benefit event to help out a friend in need. EVK’s Chelsea Moses is choreographing “A Night for Cianna,” which will take place on Friday night, August 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School gymnasium. Proceeds will benefit The Ehlers-Danlos National Foundation in honor of Cianna Stone, a 12-year-old area dancer who suffers from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a painful progressive connective tissue disorder that has forced Cianna to stop dancing and attending school. The show will feature advanced dancers from five studios and gymnasts from one gym coming together in an uplifting celebration. Tickets are $10 per person, and there will also be a basket raffle.
1970s hitmaker Boz Scaggs is among the headliners of the annual Flood City Music Festival, which returns to Johnstown’s People’s Natural Gas Park next weekend. The event begins Friday night and runs through Sunday. Friday night’s entertainment includes Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk and Leftover Salmon with Little Feat’s Bill Payne. Boz Scaggs headlines on Saturday night; other Saturday performers include Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Rubblebucket and Ikebe Shakedown. And Sunday’s performers include Lee Fields & the Expressions, The Iguanas, Neon Swing Experience and more. A number of local and regional performers will take the stage during the festival as well, including Black Cat Moan, Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats, The Hawkeyes, Striped Maple Hollow, Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Whiskey River Panhandlers, Matt Otis and the Sound and more. For tickets and other information, visit the event’s website, www.floodcitymusic.com.
