Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 6 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com). The show can also be streamed via either Rocky website, www.rocky1049.com or www.rocky99.com.
With no guests scheduled for this week, we again took the opportunity to empty the mailboxes, and check out some of the new recordings that have arrived at “Homegrown Rocker” headquarters in recent weeks. That meant a lot of new music on this week’s show; we introduced new tunes from Mama Corn, the Chris Bell Band, Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing, Wings for Armor, Mason Porter, Stage Hands, The Daily Grind, Blood Union and The Lux Republic. Along the way, we also updated “Local Music News”; dug a 1999 song by Anarchaos from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” stepped “Across State Lines” to check out a track from Baltimore’s Silvertung, and reviewed Pure Cane Sugar’s Live at the State Theatre CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”

In Local Music News…
Harrisburg’s StarChild is now rocking to the beat of a different drummer, as Timmy Vincent takes over behind the drum kit, replacing Brandon Reece. Timmy makes his official debut with StarChild on July 19 when the group plays at Johnny Joe’s in Mechanicsburg.
And next weekend marks the return of the annual Gigaroo festival to the Iselin Ballfield in Iselin, west of Indiana. That event will run on Friday night and Saturday, July 11 and 12, and feature a variety of bands and performers while raising money for Mooseheart Charities. The music kicks off Friday evening at 6 p.m. and feature music from Naked Sunday, the Stevie J Band, Stonehouse, Dimwit and Slant6. Music then resumes on Saturday at 1 p.m., with the bands Suffacate, Broke Stranded & Ugly, 3 Dudes Chillin,’ Lovesick, Zion Cross, Silk 9, Rokbot, Zero Fame, After the Fall and Fist Fight in the Parking Lot. Donation is $20 per person, and the event is all ages.
Also at the Iselin Ballfield, the 15th annual Rock for Life benefit will take place on August 1st and 2nd, raising money to help out a western Pa youngster battling a debilitating condition. This year’s recipient of the proceeds will be 13-year-old Abby Bowser, battling several conditions that require a liver transplant. Bands performing during that event include national recording group XFactor1, along with Skell, After the Fall, Big House Pete, All My Monsters, Sicksense, Ill Fated, Stratega, Padded Room, Slant 6, KGB, Hit-n-Miss, 90 Amp Fuse, Suffacate, Amber-Alexis, Stevie J Band, Hooch and Broken Stranded & Ugly.
