Jeff Hanneman RIP.....

Post by KeithReynolds »

From SLAYER:

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

Our Brother Jeff Hanneman, May He Rest In Peace (1964 - 2013)

My biggest influence. RIP. Probably the best songwriter of speed metal and eerie half time tunes ever.

Hell Awaits was one of the first thrash/speed metal albums I ever heard. I remember reading reviews in magazines like Kerrang! either hailing Slayer as the new frontier of metal, or trashing them as garbage (as I recall, Kerrang! gave Hell Awaits a one-K rating at the time, their reviewer hated it). I liked it, it was aggressive, furious and different. I especially liked "Kill Again," that one defined the Slayer blueprint for me. Jeff Hanneman was a part of that, and he and his bandmates helped change the face of heavy metal music forever. R.I.P.

He hasn't played Jacksons since 2000 when he switched to ESP's.

It sucks that he died, but now apparantly those stupid shits from Westboro are planning to go to the funeral and protest...for some reason...and sing "Crazy Train"...also for some reason.

They have their own version of "Crazy Train", they changed the lyrics to fit their message. Personally, I hope 1000 Slayer fans show up and makes those idiots regret protesting his funeral.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

Do they ever show up? I only ever hear of them saying they're going to, but never any aftermath.
