He lasted longer with them this time than I thought he would ... Him getting fired is not news, and no one really cares ..
And if anyone does care. Here is Weiland's response to it (from trolling stone)

UPDATE, 2:40 PM EST: Scott Weiland has released the following statement to Rolling Stone through a spokesperson:
I learned of my supposed "termination" from Stone Temple Pilots this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be "terminated" from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that’s something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday. – Scott Weiland

You were terminated because you chose your addictions over your band you fuckhead. You took money from their pockets, due to show cancelations. I hope you and all of your fans fit into a cardboard box so as to be shipped to Madagascar for your "Wild Animals" tour. Blues On!!!

Maybe this means the Deleo brothers will fire up Army of Anyone again. STP is one of my all-time favorite bands, and their last albums totally smoked; but I could only imagine trying to work with Weiland with all of the substance demons he has.

Really? It was this? It wasn't crappy music that made you abandon rock for over a decade, it was this?martino1995 wrote:Yeah, it's because of bands like STP that made me abandon rock for over a decade.
Laugh if you want to, really is kinda funny, 'cause the world is a car and you're the crash test dummy.
True Story!
Mr, Polito (was a sports writer for the Altoona Mirror) had a son who played in Little League on the same team with Shawn.
He always ask me how Shawn's band was doing.
He told me his nephews were in a band, he saw them one time and he said people seemed to like them. But he couldn't remember the name of the band. But his nephews always had problems with the singer, drugs and ego.
So every time we see each other I asked if he remembered the name of the band his nephews were in. He didn't
Then we were at a church function and I asked again, he yelled over to his wife and asked her. She said, "Stone Temple Pilots." After I gathered myself I said yeah, people like them...

Agree. Love STP and that last album was great. If it's done, definitely hope they keep Army of Anyone going. Really liked it as well and Patrick seems a lot more stable than Weiland'll ever be..bassist_25 wrote:Maybe this means the Deleo brothers will fire up Army of Anyone again. Gotta tell ya, I'm by no means surprised. While I definitely like the way Weiland writes, his addictions have always been front and center of the band. That band is one of the few that appeared around the same time as, and even withstood grunge, and was actually worthy of staying. STP is definitely a band I like, but it was only obvious how much Weiland was holding them back. That fact is quite sad too, because he is more than just a "pretty good vocalist", both capable of writing the lines, and throwing them in a way that actually caught you.
I know my opinion counts for less than spit, but if I were him, I'd drop Korn like a dirty rag to work with the Deleo Bros. again. Then again, I'd drop Korn for almost any gig.ToonaRockGuy wrote:If AoA is resurrected, they will have to find a new drummer. I seriously doubt Ray Luzier will leave his gig with Korn to return.

I always thought it was hysterical that the critics bashed them in the 90s for being deriative when the fact of the matter is that STP were miles ahead of their contemporaries in terms of both musicianship and songwriting. They had absolutely one of the best rythmn sections in mainstream rock music in the 90s. The groove in Wicked Garden still knocks me out to this day. If you're even a 32nd note off on that, it sounds like poo. I always considered them one of the last "prototypical" rock bands - four individual dudes, each with their own personas, just playing some hard rock music. They were also one of the last mainstream rock bands who were allowed to artistically grow from album to album. You can hear their progression from Core to Purple to Tiny Music, all the way to their last eponymous album.
The Weiland thing is a shame, though. He's always suffered from what I call "Jim Morrison Syndrome" - i.e., a brilliant artist and performer whose self-destruction eventually makes them impossible to work with on any artistic or professional level. When Weiland's on he's on, but when he's off, it's really bad. I caught some live Velvet Revolver performances on YouTube and Weiland was embarassingly bad. His bandmates were killin' it, but Weiland sounded like a drunk kareoke singer.
As far as Korn, I don't think they've really done anything relevant in the past seven years, but I'm sure they're still a decent concert commodity. I'd take the gig, make a few bucks, and use the financial freedom to then go off and do something more to my liking.

Agreed, Paul. Weiland falls well under the same spectrum as Morrison, and so many others, where even getting him out of bed seems like it would be a chore best left to someone else. It's sad too, because as I already iterated, he has amazing talent, and the musical sections of the band are spot-on. Plush has ALWAYS stuck out to me as being genius on simplicity
And as far as KoRn, they're better nowadays than they were in the early part of the earliest 2000s, but you can DEFINITELY find better bands out there, and probably not have to pay nearly as much as well
