I'm all for it. Maybe if we're not locking up non violent drug offenders and wasting money on a humdinger of a war on drugs, our state will balance an effin budget on time. And don't feed me a horseshit line about kids getting their hands on it easier, cuz they do just fine while its illegal too.

Yeah, sounds encouraging but usually it takes lots of tries before something gets passed. That's just the history with pot legistration but at least this politician had the guts to get it stared here in Pennsylvania. Remember, he needs your support.

I belong to 2 pot reform organizations, MPP and DPA. They were the 2 that were most responsible for the recent successes in Cororado and Washington. People need to communicate to their representives. Should this thing start to take off, I'll post easy ways to contact you representive to let him know how you feel. As easy as an email. Trust me. It just takes a lot of work and patience.

Sorry if my discussion waxes too "political" in this age of anti-politics on RP, but the question and topic are sort of predisposed to it. I think it's probably a step in the right direction, but I'm against the idea of "legalization" as opposed to "decriminalization". This bill still implies that it's the government's right to regulate us and will still hold the right to tax us like it does with tobacco and alcohol. Great, the master is thinking about giving the slaves a weekend pass...I guess we're supposed to be thankful for it.

While it isn't the government's job to regulate us entirely, there are still things that need to be regulated. Nothing should be regulated at the federal level, but it should come to the states to decide what is better for their residents. That is why the USA exists, isn't it? United STATES of America. Our forefathers were tired of not being represented before the king of England who would pass laws and levy taxes as he saw fit half the world away. So the USA was set up so that individual states could do what was best for their people, all the while being protected by a country wide form of government. Protected by, not ruled or regulated by. So, in my opinion, this is exactly what should happen. Our federal government needs to move marijuana to schedule 2 narcotic along with alcohol, allow states to decide how to regulate and tax and sell it themselves, free up our legal systems, and stop wasting money on a losing drug war. 80 billion a year is what the feds spend to keep drugs "off" our streets. They've failed.

I wouldn't mind a bit of government involvement for the simple fact that when you buy weed illegally, you don't know what's in it. It could be laced with anything. At least if it was regulated, there would be standards to ensure my pot don't have pcp in it.

Interesting slant on the topic. I hadn't thought of that before.

That's why you find a trusted dealer and get to know him or her. You shouldn't just run blindly into the pot scene and buy off anybody. If you can't find it from a responsible pot dealer (and yes, I know how oxymoronic "responsible pot dealer" sounds)...keep looking or just grow it yourself, if you have the space. But honestly, I can't see the gov't actually giving a shit about the quality of pot outside of their own personal stores. I seriously doubt the government will go out of their way to go after small time dealers who do what they want with their product. At least I just have to assume that, given the government's track record. lol.
