ebow?
ebow?
Has anybody ever used one? I'm very curious but I can't seem to get my hands on one. I understand that it takes some practice to realize its potential, but $100 is a bit much for a "maybe". I'd be willing to buy one second-hand, for the right price...

Ebows are a ton of fun and sound really impressive. The second generation version (the Ebow Plus) does incredible controlled feedback sounds. I always keep one of those in my accessory bag.
They're tricky to learn, but that's part of the fun. The hardest part is controlling the output. If you hold it directly over a pickup, the level is much louder than what you get with a pick. It's also not something you're likely to use frequently. It's more of a special effect.
Fun trick: Ebow + slide = poor man's theremin.

Back in black, I need a snack...
