Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the September 30 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
This week, with our guest having to postpone his appearance, we took the opportunity to empty the “Homegrown Rocker” mailboxes to check out several new recordings that have arrived in recent weeks. We heard new songs from Dave Kephart, The Hawks Blues Band, Brandi Hari, Jason O, Drew Dodson w/Sean Osborn, Neon Swing X-perience, Jordan White and The Dylanistas. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug into the archive for a 1993 song by Pittsburgh’s Torn and Frayed for this week’s “Local Music Flashback,” and stepped “Across State Lines” to check out a song by Virginia’s Madrone. And lastly, we reviewed two CD’s in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” as we dissected Philip Masorti’s Another Year and Ceramic Jesus albums and featured tracks from both!

In Local Music News…
A benefit concert in Lewistown last night raised more than $3,000 to help out an area musician seriously burned in an accident earlier this week. The “Beautiful Gathering” benefit at the Bierhaus in Lewistown was quickly organized after Tuesday’s accident, in which A Beautiful Mess drummer Harry Bleyer sustained second- and third-degree burns to nearly 80 percent of his body after a propane tank exploded near him in his Lewistown garage. Bleyer continues to receive treatments at an Allentown burn center, where he is listed in critical condition. Bands and artists who performed at last night’s benefit concert included It Is Written, Timber Tantrum, Ronnie Henry, Salt of the Earth, Drop Dead Sarcasm, Ganister, The Sorta Kindas, Johnny Unit, Junkhouse (formerly Represent The Lie) and Bleyer’s band A Beautiful Mess (with Ganister’s Randy Wilson filling in on drums). Other benefits and other fundraisers for Bleyer are in the planning stages; more details for these will be announced as information becomes available.
