Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the September 23 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
This week, back by popular demand, we brought back our salute to area bands and musicians whose musical presence is rooted at least partially in the traditional American musical forms of blues, bluegrass, folk, roots country and rock’n’roll via our “Area Americana Special!” We explored a wide range of Americana turf, spanning cigar box guitar blues (via Shane Speal) to zydeco (via Ted McCloskey), and everything in between! Along the way, we debuted new songs from Southside Strays, Philip Masorti, Dave Distefano, Mike Metallia & Midnight Shift, John “JT” Thompson, Chubediah, Whiskey River Panhandlers and Shane Speal. We also stepped “Across State Lines” to check out a song by New Jersey’s April Mae & the June Bugs, and reviewed Walt & Jackie’s Bare CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”
Here is this week's playlist:
