Although he wasn't from this area, I wanted to report this for anyone who might have met or played with him. Singer, songwriter and guitarist Ed Rhoades died on Monday from injuries suffered when his bicycle collided with a pickup truck in his hometown of Catawissa. He was 65.
Ed was a retired teacher, and wrote and performed folk and blues music, both solo and with his wife, Kim. I just reviewed the couple's CD Promises on the "Homegrown Rocker" a few weeks ago. I had met Ed and Kim once or twice during a couple of Dave Blackledge's Singer-Songwriter Festivals a few years back. Nice people.
My condolences go to Ed's wife Kim and daughter Heather, as well as the rest of his family, friends and musical associates.
