Goodwill find.

Post by Dragan Kalasa »

I went to Goodwill the other day in Chambersburg and seen Soul Coughing's "Irresistible Bliss" CD for sale. The only time I heard of them was on the Spawn soundtrack with Roni Size and it peaked my interest. So I bought it. Has anyone else heard of these guys? Kind of an interesting sound. Or does anyone else have any surprising "goodwill find" stories?

They were a very interesting band. The singer had a minor solo hit a few years ago called Busting Up a Starbucks, which was inspired by irony when he saw some kid kicking a Starbucks window while wearing a pair of Nikes as a protest against corporatism. The Spawn soundtrack will be forever awesome, though.

Unfortunately, I never seem to find anything good when I go into Goodwill. :x

I listened to a lot of Soul Coughing at a time when I was doing a lot of nitrous. They go well together. I quit the N2O many years ago, but I still pull out the CDs every now and again. They lay down a nice, dark pocket. I've always considered the lyricist more of a poet than a singer, but he works well in the group.

Found a Master of Reality Cd at the old original Carzy Hazy's that Ginger Baker played drums on. Wasn't really familar with the band or member Chirs Goss at the time, just saw Ginger Baker played on it! It is one of my favorite all time Cd's to this day, my band even plays one of the tracks

I got some 8-tracks there... I bought a vintage 8-track/AM/FM portable, and wanted to see if it worked as good as it looked. (It does)
I got Porter Wagoner, Ronnie Milsap, and a live Roy Clark show. Since then, my father-in-law hooked me up with some Merle Haggard, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash and a few others, nothing later than 1973. Country music may not sound as good on 8-track, but it's fun to listen to it that way.
