Mr. Rogers is on his way to becoming the next big viral video.

The sweater clad PBS icon is the subject of a new promotional video for the station.

The three-minute YouTube video posted by PBS Digital Studios on Thursday opens with an old Fred Rogers clip about cassettes and tape players and then launches into scenes from the show.

“Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood” was a PBS staple from 1968-2001. Rogers died in 2003.

The station wrote in the YouTube video description that the video was a “chance to pay tribute to one of our heroes.”

I saw this on WQED last night, it's brilliant.
Some might call it creepy, or derivative, but I see it as high art... like Andy Warhol painting a stylized Campbell's Soup can, it takes the familiar, and makes it completely novel. I love the sentiment, too, growing creative fruits in the garden of your mind.
The bad part is that we'll likely see lots of copy-cats, and the vast majority will be far inferior. I bet the producer of this vid will be famous, though.

I can see where you're coming from Johnny, but I loved Mr. Rogers and the creep factor was just a bit too much for me.

Pretty cool, I wouldn't call it high art though Johnny, however you make a good case for it to be. i just don't agree that slapping auto tune and cutting video is "art." Otherwise, every rap video would be art.
