HOMEGROWN ROCKER 6/3/12 (JEFF PITTINGER)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the June 3 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our guest via phone this week, White Witch and Monster Track Supergroup frontman Jeff Pittinger! “Uncle Jeff” updated us on the latest happenings with both of his band projects, shared insight and perspective on his music career, and we heard songs from both White Witch and Monster Track Supergroup. Along the way, we updated “Local Music News,” dug a 1994 song by Endzone from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Jakesway’s It May Get Loud CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

GANISTER – “Saving Grace”
LIES, INC. –“Losing Ground”
WHITE WITCH – “The Power”
44MAG – “50 Miles”
MONSTER TRACK SUPERGROUP – “Wild World”

On our next program, we will be joined in the studio by Johnstown’s Ron Gallucci. Ron just released his second studio album, Dizzyland; he will discuss the new CD, and we’ll hear numerous songs from it! We’ll also update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for yet another “Local Music Flashback,” and review Tarra Layne’s debut CD, Introducing Tarra Layne, in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Ron Gallucci returns to the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

In Local Music News…

Several benefit live music events headline our look at Local Music News. Again, the “Jamming for Jason” event to help out former Tie Down drummer Jason Grodis happens this Friday night, June 8, at the Ashville Firehall. The event starts at 6 p.m., and will feature performances from Screaming Ugly, Locked and Loaded and a Tie Down reunion with Dan Way on drums. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple, which includes music, food and refreshments. Proceeds help Jason, who is battling an aggressive form of cancer known as neuroendocrine carcinoma. For more information about the benefit or to make a donation to help Jason, visit the website www.jamforjason.com.

Next Saturday, June 9, is the date for the sixth annual “Day Of Rock” benefit for Easter Seals of Central PA. That concert will happen at Legion Park in Hollidaysburg and runs from noon to 11 p.m. Bands donating their talents during this year’s “Day Of Rock” include Shallow9, The Arbutus, Locked and Loaded, Limited Slip, S.O.L. and Saving Jake.

Also next Saturday, a bike run and concert will benefit Windber Hospice. The Windber Hospice Run begins at 12 noon, with the concert and after-party beginning at 4 p.m. at the Jerome Firehall. Bands participating in that effort include Dakota Rose, Blue Collar Fate, Southern Steel and Wyld Syde. Donation at the gate will be $20 per person.
