It's a bunch of nothing.
The article leads off with a picture of Paul McCartney playing a Hofner and lists Van Halen as a prominent Gibson user. The EVH division of Fender is probably getting a good laugh out of that one.
So the feds have no intention of seizing instruments... but we're going to write them a stern letter.Sen. Lamar Alexander wrote:“Senator Wyden and I are going to write the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service a letter in the next couple of weeks and try to make it clear that wood harvested before 2008 to make musical instruments can’t be seized by the federal government,” Alexander said in a statement. “The Justice Department and Fish and Wildlife have said they have no intention of doing that, but Sen. Wyden and I are going to make it absolutely clear."

My drum wood was secretly imported...shhh...nakedtwister wrote:I don't think that was Duaine's intention at all. I have never seen him name call on this site. Wait until they want to seize your drums.

I'm not accusing Moxham of name calling, just pointing out that politics leads to that on Rockpage. I've been on both ends of name calling and am a bit ashamed. My point is that RP is fresh and clean without the name calling. If we could do politics without degrading anyone who disagrees with us...cool. But it's been proven that can't be done.
B, we need to get together and have a brew...
This is musical instrument issue that has been going on for decades and most recently has resulted in raids of Gibson as well as others. No political intentions on this or any other site. The import of exotic and rare endangered woods have been regulated for the manufacture of guitars and other musical instruments as well as other products and most times unbeknownest to the producers and buyers.
Thank goodness my main bass is a composite Steinberger.
