He was a legend. Rest in peace, Duck. I am going to watch the Blues Brothers today to honor him.

Bummer. Bag, BOC's Eric Bloom had the same haircut back then and they had a nicknamer called Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, but no, Duck did not play for BOC.

I met Eric Bloom when they were playing in State College at what I think is now called The Zoo. He was just hanging out on the steps out front. Nobody seemed to know who he was...except me, lol.

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of one of the greats.

Here is more about him.

http://music-mix.ew.com/2012/05/13/dona ... dunn-dies/

We play Time Is Tight by Booker T. & The MGs and were talking about him this weekend.

The list of hit songs he played on and bands he played with is incredible. As a bassist myself, he was one of my all time favorites.

RIP, a true legend. If you listen, there's a lot of major pentatonic stuff in my playing that I shamelessly stole from Duck Dunn. He really influenced me to step out of a lot of the chromatic, pseudo-jazz type of runs that are played in that style of music and think melodically.
"He's the electric horseman, you better back off!" - old sKool making a reference to the culturally relevant 1979 film.

Damn shame. He was a great guy. My father got to jam with him about 8 years ago on the west coast when he owned a music store. RIP Duck.
