This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of America's most influential and celebrated songwriters, Woody Guthrie. Centennial celebrations of Woody and his legacy are being celebrated worldwide, including at Penn State University during the weekend of September 7-9. The big celebration will be at University Park, but there will also be events happening at Penn State Altoona during this weekend as well.
Among the highlights of this weekend will be the "This Land Is Your Land Concert," featuring John Mellencamp, Arlo Guthrie, and other performers to be named (some names associated with this event at other cities have included the Del Coury Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, Rosanne Cash, The Flaming Lips, Hanson and others). This concert will happen on September 8 at Penn State's Eisenhower Auditorium.

Another component of this celebration is a call for written papers about Guthrie and his legacy. These will be put on display at the Grammy Museum. The deadline for paper submissions is April 1. If anybody is interested in submitting a paper or wants more information, visit this web page:
