Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the February 26 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
Our latest program recapped the 16th annual Millennium Music Conference, which took place in the Harrisburg area Feb. 16-19. We reported some of the conference’s happenings and heard audio from the conference, including comments from some of the participating bands and musicians, plus an excerpt from the ever-popular “Smash or Trash” panel which closed the business portion of the conference! We played music from some of the more than 260 bands and artists who showcased during Millennium weekend, including Harrisburg’s Mountain Road, who won the “Homegrown Rocker” CD drawing and scored an instant guest appearance on the March 4 program! We also updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Shift Seven’s Love Lust CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”
Here is this week's playlist:

On our next show, we will continue in the Millennium Music Conference vein, as we spotlight the winner of our “Homegrown Rocker” CD drawing during this year’s conference, Harrisburg’s Mountain Road. We will air an interview with the band members, recorded in the lobby of the Radisson Penn Harris Conference Center shortly after the conclusion of the conference. We’ll hear tracks from Mountain Road’s debut CD, Country Rockin’ Blues, and you’ll have chances to call in to win a copy! We’ll also debut more new tracks from Millennium Music Conference participants, update “Local Music News,” dig into the archive for another “Local Music Flashback,” and review Dream Device’s self-titled CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Mountain Road is in the spotlight on the “Homegrown Rocker,” next Sunday night!

In Local Music News…
The area music scene was shocked last weekend by the tragic death of one of its most established drummers. Tim Yingling, whose drumming career spanned more than three decades, was struck and killed by a car in Tyrone on Friday night, February 17. He was 57. Known as one of the Altoona area’s top drummers, Tim graced the kit for numerous bands over the years, including MX, Xeno, the U.S. Hotel House Band, The Front, Red White & Blues, Hot Licks, UR-X, Force Of Habit, T-n-A, Broken Pony and more.
A benefit show to help out a local cancer patient will take place next Sunday, March 4 at Pellegrine’s. The Cancer Benefit Dance for John Twoey will start a 1 p.m., and bands confirmed to perform thus far include Bad Daze, Limited Slip and Twisted and Used.
An area band that provides live backing for karaoke singers achieved a notable milestone this past weekend. The group kBand added their 1,000th song to their playlist during last night’s performance at the Blue Moon Saloon in Cresson.
And the “Homegrown Rocker” would like to congratulate longtime area musician Reed Larrimore, who has been promoted to director of National Sales in the Pro Audio & Combo Division of Yamaha Corporation of America. Reed had received the Spirit of Yamaha Award in 2009 as Eastern regional sales manager of Yamaha. He previously served as Pro Audio & Combo Division district manager in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, receiving such awards as Manager of the Year in 2002, President’s Club in 2003 and Value Added in 2004.
