Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the February 5 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).
We knew what we were up against this week from the sporting world. So while Eli Manning and the New York Giants fought for their Super Bowl XLVI victory, the “Homegrown Rocker” spotlighted the talented women of the area and state’s music scene with the annual “Ladies of Local Music Special.” We celebrated the ladies who sing, play guitars, basses, drums, keys, strings and other instruments, and debuted new songs from the Rebekah Starr Band, Riley Roth, Halestorm, Halle Kate, Key of V and Tarra Layne. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug into the archive for a 2001 song by Pittsburgh’s Voodoo Babies for this week’s “Local Music Flashback,” stepped “Across State Lines” to check out a song from Trenton, New Jersey singer/songwriter Kelly Carvin, and reviewed Michi’s Where Your Heart Is CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”
