Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the December 11 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

In Local Music News…
The area music scene was saddened by the passing of a longtime musician this past week. Larry Smelley, who had played in various bands over the years, passed away on Monday at age 65. He had been battling cancer. Larry most recently played bass for the bands Hot Wax and The Red Arrow, and often sat in on the monthly jam sessions at the Sankertown VFW.
Rain Must Fall is currently auditioning drummers to take over behind the kit for Jon Preston, who played his final show with the group last night at Aldo’s in Juniata. In the meantime, Rain Must Fall will take some time off from live performances through most of the winter, and expects to resurface sometime in late February or March.
And folks who attended the annual fall concert by the Saint Francis University World Drumming Ensemble last Monday night at the JFK Student Lounge on the Loretto campus witnessed an unexpected surprise. A few songs into the performance, a suspect-looking Santa Claus and an elf showed up bearing candy canes and gifts. They handed one of the gifts to Drumming Ensemble member Kent Tonkin (who’s also the bass player for Lies, Inc.). Kent took the gift, turned to his girlfriend, Melissa Bailey, dropped to one knee and proposed to her, presenting the gift, an engagement ring. Pleasantly surprised, Melissa said yes. Congratulations to the couple for taking the next step forward.
