I use to... I'm a big dave ramsey fan and have been trying to get rid of the "crap" that i don't need and paying off debt. if you've never heard of him look him up.
leading to a much less stressful life doing this. =-)

I give in to the urge ALOT! I always seem to want what I don't have, but as soon as I get it, I want something else. It's a pretty vicious cycle. But hey, I always have a bunch of cool toys laying around!
I have 3 guitars, got 2 of them the last 2 Christmas'. I asked my wife for the ESP Kamikaze this year. I don't even play in a band, but I would still love to have it. I have a guitar with rosewood fretboard and one with maple that are standard tuning. I have another with maple neck that is tuned to Eb, so I need a rosewood fretboard to tune to Eb now. Guitars are like fishing rods, you can never have too many.
I cannot stop buying books. At least I get them cheap usually (yard sales, book sales, and I usually have a library book handy). I am a complete bookworm.

Amp whore here. The list of amps I've bought, sold, or traded this year makes even my head spin. You only live once, so if you have the means, and it makes you happy...

I just bought 24 science fiction, fantasy and fiction books for $19.95 on ebay.
Ebay and amazon used books are a very inexpensive way to buy books.
Yes Joe, I'm on to them. What I really should be doing is selling books on ebay but its hard to let some of them go. My house looks like a library and I am a complete geek. I do think geekiness is the one thing we ALL have in common on RP haha.

Actually, no. I have absolutely no desire to buy things I don't really need except for the occasional luxury like a video game, movie or a book. I think people, especially Americans, spend WAY too much money on crap they don't need. I have one amp and one guitar. That's enough for me. I might get a second guitar someday purely to have a backup in case something goes wrong on stage, but that's it. Every time I think about buying something expensive that I don't really need, all I can think about is all the people in the world who have nothing or almost nothing. Whenever I see rich musicians showing off their collections of wall to wall guitars, it kinda makes me sick. To me, that's nothing more than financial gluttony. I'd rather give the money to charity and know that I'm helping someone else who needs it more.

Life's just too damn short!!!! If you want something---go for it!!! If you feel THAT guilty with all of that "buyer's remorse" stuff, you can always take it back!!!

lonewolf, I think the funeral home on 17th street and 6th Ave has not been in operation for awhile, not sure if it is for sale though. And, dude you're creeping me out just a little.

That's actually the one that gave me the idea.
lol. if you look at typical funeral homes, they are laid out perfectly for a working band's studio and a residence. Nice big garage that leads thru double doors to a large work room. The old brick victorian ones look like little castles and are probably just as hard to break into.
It would be a nice place to live for the working musician who doesn't happen to believe in ghosts, lol.

+1
I'm quite content with my basses, but I seem to never be able to get enough amp equipment.
But for the most part, I'm not very materialistic. My apartment is quite ascetic. I've never bought a brand new vehicle, because I can't see spending $20,000+ on something that depreciates and that I'm going to get rid of in a few years. I don't go out and buy the latest and greatest electronic gadget. ...but I do enjoy buying music equipment. I'm a bargain shopper, though. I think it's because my mom was always looking for a deal. I've picked up some nice gear doing that.

I dig where you're coming from, but on the other hand, I'd rather see those nice vintage instruments being in a player's collection than some douche's collection who buys up expensive guitars and doesn't even play. Guitars should be played, not hung up on a wall as status symbols.

I don't really have the money to spend on things I don't need, but if I did, I would love to have a massive collection of cymbals. I enjoy my current setup, because it gives me a ton of different voices to use within the context of the music that I play, but there is always room for more. I'm actually sending in 3 broken cymbals to my cymbal company to trade on a new 19" crash. I just have to figure out how I want it to sound and look.
I'd also like to get a piccolo snare drum. If I could get my hands on a Yamaha Dave Garibaldi model, I'd be one happy camper. But, again, the money factor limits me.
I do own about 55 neckties, though, from when I used to wear a suit for work daily. I loves me some neckties.

Brulia has the Garibaldi Signature - seamless shell before Yamaha started making everything seamed shells - and it is BEAUTIFUL ! Yeah... I'd like one of those
