ha ha ha...that would kill two birds with one stone, good halftime show and we'd all be rid of Nickelback FINALLY!!ToonaRockGuy wrote:They should let Nickelback start to play, and then have Ted Nugent shoot them all in the head with his bow and rock "Motor City Madhouse" to wind up halftime. That would be EPIC.
Don't understand the whole "I hate Nickleback" thing. This coming from an area that thinks that "Kiss" is a talented band and that studio wrestling is real!!! Oh, yeah---NASCAR---None Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks!!! What is it about Nickleback that has everyone ragging on them all of the time? Just curious.

They are audio vomit!!! And basically the poster boys for EVERYTHING that's wrong with the music industry. In other words.....they suck ass!autumnsky wrote:Don't understand the whole "I hate Nickleback" thing. But really, DETROIT? What's left there when you take away their football team? A bunch of dumpy deserted houses with broken out windows and crackheads sleezing around the place!!!

Seriously though, have you seen the half-time show entertainment the last few years? With the exception of perhaps--The Stones--they ALL sucked ass!!!! Why not just go back to bands with majorettes? Less wardrobe malfunctions, and probably a lot more talent!!!

Tom Petty and The Hearbreakers did the 2008 Superbowl I believe. They were excellent!autumnsky wrote:Seriously though, have you seen the half-time show entertainment the last few years? Did you just say EXCEPT the stones?! They were the WORST band I've heard do the Superbowl!! Mick Jagger was out of key and even stumbled on one of the lyrics. Not to mention Keith Richards' guitar was out of tune from start to finish. I changed the channel halfway through that performance because it was HORRID!!!!autumnsky wrote:Seriously though, have you seen the half-time show entertainment the last few years? Having grown up in that area, there is WAY more than ICP, Kid Rock, and Eminem. Detroit has a musical history that is rivaled only by New York and LA. Many great bands from that area, including Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, Alice Cooper, The MC5, Madonna, Motown artists (Aretha Franklin, Temptations, Four Tops, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Smokey Robinson, Wilson Pickett, Parliament Funkadelic, The Capitols), Mitch Ryder, Iggy Pop, Grand Funk, Sponge, Speedball, (unfortunately) The White Stripes, Cactus, Rare Earth, and many more, including a totally kickass hardcore scene.RobTheDrummer wrote:Yep, go ahead and kick out Nickleback, you can keep ICP, Kid Rock, and Eminem......
I'll defend my home area's music scene all the way. Many bands from there that could play that show and kick the living shit out of Nickelback.

I agree, Tom Petty was the best Half-Time show I seen. Maybe Detroit should call him.banderson wrote:Tom Petty and The Hearbreakers did the 2008 Superbowl I believe. Yep, Detroit is very rich in music notoriety. There is no arguing that.ToonaRockGuy wrote:Having grown up in that area, there is WAY more than ICP, Kid Rock, and Eminem. You must not get out much. That's every major city in America and soon to be every smaller city as well. Do you ever really actually listen to music? Not with your ears but with your heart as well. Try it. You might discover something.

Dear Craven Sound---Altoona exactly---especially with all of it's "imported out-of-town and staters" who have decided to come here and sponge off the locals!
Dear Nakedtwister---I DO get out and listen to music---here, in other states and other countries. I love music, listen to and PLAY music, and I don't mean the radio or CDs. I also know music and many musicians. They do not add to or take away the value of any city or area. In fact, music has been born out of many impoverished areas. The blues, jazz, rock and roll have all been influenced by what was happening at the time and where it was happening. I DO agree with you that music should be listened to with the heart---isn't that how most of it was written?
