Today I played in front of a crowd for the first time.
And it was awesome! I played special music at church today. This is the first time I ever played in front of a group of people. There were around 250 people there. I was so nervous this morning that I almost threw up, but once I started going, I was fine.
Man it was like something I never experienced before. Especially after only picking a bass up and starting to play it less than two weeks ago. I guess all those years of playing guitar helped. Anyway, I really like it and can't wait to do it again!!
So, what your first time like?
'Edited for spelling.'

Awesome! It can be very addicting.
I was scared beyond belief my first time in a rock band, which was the first I had any control over how it turned out. I was extremely shy, but I really had big dreams, so I just booked it, and did it. You kind of have to power through the fear of it, and once you finish, it's like skydiving, you have a high for a long time, from the adrenaline.
Very cool, congrats.

Did you use a pick or fingers ?
Just kidding doesn't matter.
Glad you enjoyed it, my first crowd was about 500 for a high school talent show, I wasn't nervous or scared but I was a cocky teenager and I've always been comfortable with the guitar. In fact I was just itching to get out there and play. I did experience the nervous feeling with vocals .... several times actually. I'm still not really comfortable with a mic but that's probably because I'm not really a singer. I'd like to be better but I wasn't blessed with that talent.

Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.
Congrats!!..The feeling never goes away..It's the best high when the crowd is into what your doing. My first was while still in school with Jeff Peterson who owns a local music store, and Lee Worthy of Worthy's lights and sound.. Played at Jeffs sisters dance school party. Was first time we signed something too..the kids thought we was famous..lol... But I never loose the feeling before and once your up there...Enjoy it...It's a legal high!

lol...congratulations, thats great! I hope this will lead to more performances in the future.
I grew up in a religious family and pretty much grew up singing in different choirs in whatever church we went to at the time so I don't remember really what it was like when I was old enough to realize what was going on. My first time performing as an adult(not counting being stuck in the chorus during crappy musicals in high school which doesn't count because I was always on stage with a giant group of people and didn't have any lines or a character) wasn't actually musically related, I did local and college theater when I was in my early 20's, but the first show I did, before the first time I went on stage to speak my first line, I was extremely excited but utterly terrified that my mind would go blank and I would destroy the show. In as many shows that I did, I never lost that double feeling of stress and excitement, but I never actually forgot any lines in any of the shows I've ever done. Of course, the first time I performed musically and solo was at a college talent show; I was singing and playing a Counting Crows song on piano and I was completely terrified, not excited in the least and actually forgot half of the music in the middle of the song. I had to admit it to the audience and everybody laughed at me. I don't think anyone even clapped when I was done. It was SOOOO bad!!

If I ever don't have that feeling before/during/after, I'll probably give it up.
You gotta crash and burn a few times before the nervousness goes away.
My first time was at the Custard Barn (now Marin's, Chestnut Ave) for some girls birthday. It was around halloween, so everyone was in costume except for us. There were about 30 people and they completely ignored us. They didn't boo or leave; they didn't cheer and dance; we felt invisible.
I think I'd rather get booed.

LOL, I used a pick, Tony. I am still getting used to the fingers
I am going to be playing with the praise team this weekend, and the whole rest of the month of November. It should be fun and great at the same time. I can't wait to do it. What more can I ask for? having fun and glorifying God all at the same time.
