Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the September 18 edition of Rocky 104.9 and Rocky 99's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 9 to 11 PM during Steelers football season on WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com) and WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com).

Thanks to our guest this week via phone, Pittsburgh blues guitar favorite Jimmy Adler (http://www.jimmyadler.com). Jimmy updated us on his career happenings, including the release of his brand new CD, Midnight Rooster. We discussed the CD and heard numerous songs from it. Along the way, we debuted new songs from Borrowed Time and Chuck Mason & Blue Reality. We also updated “Local Music News,” dug a 2002 song by The Cosmic Lounge from the archive for a “Local Music Flashback,” and reviewed Miss Melanie and the Valley Rats’ Slow Down CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”

The area music scene mourned the loss of another member this past week with the passing of Don Frye on Monday, Sept. 12 at age 38. Don played drums for several area hard rock bands over the past few years, including Flord.
