Peavey Tube Amp Help

Post by kayla »

So, i have my guitar with me at work. and one of our vendors comes in and is asking me a million questions. We started talkin about gear and he says he has this peavey amp from the 70's, 100w tube with two 12's. I asked him how much he wanted and he was like umm $150. WHAT! he couldnt remember the exact name of the amp ...

He said he knows its a Peavey and the it starts with an S.

Anyone have any information on peavy amps ? i tried some google research and didnt find what i'm lookin for. i did read some of the older peavey amps were junk, opinions? thanks!!

Possibly the Classic VT, a Deuce or a Mace. The Deuce was Peaveys take on the Fender Twin Reverb and was high wattage. This either rules this one out, or your guy is mistaken on how many watts it is. The Mace is in the same category at 160 watts. I can't recall any models that started with an S, but my memory isn't what it used to be. In any case $150.00 bucks is just slightly below what these are going for.

Lynard Skynard were the main Mace users so expect that sort of tone. I think .38 Special also used them.
