Japan Benefit

Post by evolanji »

Hi everyone,

I am in the works of putting together a benefit for Japan. The event will be on June 4th, their will be a silent auction, 50/50s , and of course the main event which is with the help of local musicians. The event will be benefitting the Japan Relief Fund. Unfortunitly I had 3 bands drop on me within the past 2 weeks due to having memebers not able to attend. I am in need of help from you guys. Any local bands that would want to participate please please contact me asap. I plan on lots of advertising for the event itself so that in itself is a pirk but it's also a great oppurtunity to play with local talent while helping out those in need!! The event will be held at 30 Something and some of the bands signed on are Samara, On Dying Days, Naildriver. The genre is not limited and would like a variety so everyone comming out gets to expierence different types of music. Please guys message me with any questions , I would like to raise as much monay as we can as a community!

I really hate to beat a dead horse but I will say this... This benefit has beat me down, between bands backing out, fighting with businesses to contribute anything to the auction and just the negative responses I have received. Maybe I live in some fantasy world that when someone is in need we just do it. Even if you don't agree with the Japan government or other things involving the country these are still people suffering, in my mind the community I live in would stand up and help. I understand the economy is bad in the country we live in but I am asking for time and as far as the businesses go well it's a tax right off so I don't know. I'm losing faith. I am such a optomistic person but I think slowly I am losing that . I do want to say thanks to some of the local business that donated instantly, Big Mouth Subs, Galactic Ice, the Meadows.... yeah that's it so far after 2 months of pulling my hair out for this ..... I have a month and half and who knows this hard work may just pay off!!!!!

I think people like to give their charity on a more local level.

Understandebly so, and local charities are always great and I have done some... and maybe I should take this tread down, because I will say this , I have received quit a bit of negative respones, which is to be expected not everyone has genarosity in their hearts, to many ppl are "me" ppl. But with that being said I have heard many positive responses as well and am very please to say that we have had some bands want to play. Even though this is not local it was such a large loss that Japan will have a hard time helping their people recover on this on their own. Not to mention when Katrina happen Japan stood up and donated to our country!

Keep up the good work! We need more people like you doing good stuff.
