Yes he is the same guy that did super size me. Sheetz put a couple of hundred thousand dollars into the production of it as well.

I am just shocked that Altoona was mentioned on MSNBC.com.

yeah it's a documentary about product placement funded all by advertising and product placement, how ironic. Sheetz was a large part of funding so they gave the hometown the stupid title. Lots of companies feared getting on board as he had the final editing rights and thought he might turn on them like McDonalds in his first film.

How many people do you think would be willing to donate a buck or two to have the city's name changed to "Bass Ackward, Pa"?

What are they worried about anyway? It's not like anyone quit eating McD's after Supersize Me....They certainly aren't gonna quit buying gas for their vehicles....

Local radio is saying the money goes to the police budget. I'm no longer Altoid, so it's a moot point for me...

The more I think about this, the angrier it makes me. I know that it's only "ceremonial", but THIS is the wrong way to raise money or get headlines.

When I was a manager at the Walmart in Altoona, we called the people Altoids, There is a different breed of human beings down there. We had to call the cops on a lady that threatened to blow up the store because I wouldn't return a 3 year old $120 RCA TV.

After I left the store, I had to travel back there several times for court appearances for all of the goofy-ass people & their stupid-ass shit.

Instead of Sheetz giving all that money to some dumbass movie production...they shouldve just given the money to Altoona directly. Woulve saved alot of hassle, and this dumbass name change wouldnt be happening.

The amount Altoona is getting back is way less than what Sheetz invested in that movie. I think its pretty embarrassing for sheetz & altoona!

how far is 25k REALLY gonna go in the police dept?? Not very far at all.
Just my thoughts.

Working as a Sheetz employee, I'm thinking the money Sheetz is investing in the movie may pay off in the long run. If the movie has national distribution, that's an entire country learning about the Sheetz product rather than the six states they are in right now.

Or...

Sheetz just likes to throw money around and keep their name in the headlines.

As a fellow employee, I'd have to agree with part 2 of your statement.

For real though, Sheetz would do very well out west. I missed Sheetz when I was living out there. 7-11 sucks balls.
