Several years ago, a friend (and sometimes bandmate) of had to build a robot for an engineering course he was taking. It had to do something useful, so naturally he made a robot drummer. It was a MIDI-controlled system of actuators that held drumsticks (or pedals) and fastened to an acoustic drumset. The device subsequently became the subject of a 'rock opera' of sorts. It featured the "Rok Machine" and 4 live musicians on stage and performed at a private party with pre-recorded video playing different roles in the opera. Some of those are posted below, with recorded audio.
It will be obvious several moments into the proceedings that they are heavily tongue-in-cheek, and there is no shortage of sheer oddity. Enjoy (or not)
