I have never worked at Daylights, but I think Dave is a super guy. And I think he has good ears. Do this, call around. Most of the studios I would want to work with will tell u what kind of gear they are using, how they like a session to work, etc. If they do not want to talk shop talk, I wouldnt even consider using them. Most recordings are an investment, so u should know what u are paying for. Thats my advice. And before you call, lay out a gameplan. Consider the amount of money u want to spend. Amount of songs u want to record. How many vocal dubs, guitar solos, etc. And always make sure you or youre band is prepared for the studio. Why spend 35 bux an hour to watch your drummer tune his drums? Or try to write that elusive bridge you couldnt come up with. The studio is my favorite place to be, but it is also the most expensive.... even if it was only 15 bux an hour. Time is money, and I am sure there are other things you could spend your hard earned money on. Good luck!

Hey Chad,
Listening to the clips on your site, they are super-clean, yet maintain the power that metal needs. It goes to show how versatile Mr. Filer is... he's not only a superb player in his own right, but a great technician too. Talk about playing both sides of the field, one of State College's best "lounge" musicians recording a killer CD for one of the area's heaviest bands! Awesome.
I think that you should sit in with Bill at the Allen Street Grille; that would be priceless.

Yeah Bill Fyler is a good guy to work with, also look into mud hut studios, its in sharon pa. but the little extra drive is well worth it.
You can cut a full length album and it will cost about $400 bucks, and that comes with 3, 4, or 5, master disks. REAL PROFFESIONAL SHIT!

Actually Ron, the clips that are currently on the site are from Zenphonic Soundwerks. We have been so excited about debuting our material on the backyard rocker that I havent put any clips up yet, but thank you for the compliment. As much as we liked Zenphonic we wanted to try something different, and Bill was such a fantastic guy to work with. We joked with him about having Deviance open for him in State College. If you liked those clips, the clarity on these will blow your mind.

If youth knew; if age could.
We recorded last year in Binghamton NY at Mansion Audio and it was great. I would recommend them to anyone serious about getting a good recording done. They have excellent gear and excellent facilities. We will be headed back for our next full length. Here a link to the studio: www.mansionaudio.com
You can hear clips of Never The Sunshine tracks we recorded there at:

These guys work well with everbody... Jeff DaBella has worked w/ Overkill, Dope, Auto Pilot Off and many others. Excellent ears. Highly recommend for any bands- especially hard rock. We did our first full length with him in 1994 and have used hiom ever since... worth every penny!
