I concur...but everybody has an opinion & it's okay for each one of us to express that opinion...just like we both gave ours just now. loltonefight wrote:Music isn't a competition, there is no best. Styles are so different and tastes are so different if you look for the best you are a fool.
Yup, Bruce is an unsung local hero, IMHO. He was never in a flashy metal band, but he's got plenty of fire and brimstone, speed & dexterity, and always tasteful. He & Brett Fanelli are my two favorite people to jam with, because I might be playing Black Sabbath, or Dead, or Pink Floyd, or Billy Joel, or old gospel hymns, or worldbeat, or Snoop Dogg, Whitesnake, hell, even make something up on the spot... and they don't just follow along, they embrace it and push it ahead.Jasaoke wrote:

You know it just occurred to me that greatness in pianist (pronounced \pē-ˈa-nist) is judged by how "well" they execute a certain great piece of music while making it their own. Not just playing the notes perfectly but "internalizing" and feeling the piece while bringing something of themselves to the it. When the pianist reaches a certain level of proficiency they no longer just play the piece.Jasaoke wrote:IMO, any guitarist worth his salt can get the job done acoustically. It's waaay too easy to sound 'good' with the distortion and low action on an electric guitar, and the whole speed-tapping-arpeggio thing is very rarely done MUSICALLY.
If you want the whole package: talent, taste, and style, I'd go with Bruce Forr. Do yourself a favor and check out a Mama Corn show.
