awesome movie starring mick o'rourke. anyone else see it? kinda dated but who cares. love flicls like this...seen it 3 times in 6 weeks and keep looking for it want to watch it again!

During the day, Henry Chinaski (Mickey Rourke) writes poetry and short stories, which he submits to literary magazines. Drinking and fighting is how he spends his nights.

Barfly was a great movie. Everyone thought Mickey Rourke was on the road to super stardom. With this movie, Pope of Greenwich Village and 9 1/2 Weeks, Rourke was making the coolest movies in the early 80's.

He was also great in Diner. I just watched that on Netflix and there are so many young actors in that movie.

The movie Barfly is based on the life of poet/writer Charles Bukowski.

Forget Mickey Rourke - Bukowski is the one to check out!!!
