Not bad for your debut post. very professional and well thought out. your inbox is probobly full by now. from the sounds of it and how well you articulated the genres of music you like, your years of expierience on your instrument and your previous band expierience, i'm sure you will have no problem finding just the guys to form your mega band and just intime for a shot at playing the halftime show at the super bowl.

good luck!!!

dude we all get your frustration, i was just pointing out that if you want that ,then you need to be more specific and more articulate in what you are looking for. all in all if i'm looking to get something going, i want to be very specific. in what i'm looking for only so i don't waste my time. i would say (example) i'm looking to start a band and need dedicated players who are willing to travel a 300 mile radius of altoona at any given time to play such and such kind of music, i'm 40 years old, been out of the game for a while due to injury ready to jump back in and get this show on the road, have pa practice space lights etc. if you just want to play a time or two a month, this isn't the gig for you. be very precise in your add, and hopefully you'll attract the right band mates for your project and you'll all be on the same page from the start. your first post in this thread came off as you just fucked off at everyone and never really said anything of what you want to accomplish, this is the musicians/bands wanted/available section, not the i'm fucked off cuz i can't find the right guys cuz i wasn't clear on what i'm looking for section. my suggestion is to delete your thread and be specific and build a good add and post it. again, i wish you luck. if you can't delete it, private message Ron and ask him to delete it and do a do over.

It would certainly be helpful to know where you are based out of.

so ... no location, no genre, no previous work that you did, a guy of your stature surely has some tracks out there that we can check out since we're thinking about driving three hours + so we can just have a chance to jam with your highness. maybe once you're done with girlscouts and get your homework done if theres any time left maybe van halen will give you a shot. i think i have a pretty good idea why you can't find players. horns up brah! keep it real!! lol you made my morn with you last post.

Ok I rarely ever post on here or chime into these things but I have to agree with mjb. Nobody on here knows who you are let alone what you have done in the past as most including myself have no clue who the last screen name was that you were ranting under. To make a long story short.... While your commitment is to inspire people to join in on a national touring weekend band with a 3 hour commitment for rehearsals per week, others are looking elsewhere to play in our serious "wanna-be" bands after not only the negative inspiration you are giving, but the bigger than everyone else attitude. You may have given all of these things before, but if you want to be any closer to your dreams, then i'd supply the information (tracks, bio.etc) again under your new screen name. Otherwise just sit at home and keep dreaming, as well as work on that inspiration a little more.

And of course some of you on here have nothing better to do with your time than to bash others, and show just how immature you really are which does nothing but solidify my points all the more.

For the few who post on RP looking for more I wish you all the best. However, seems that the majority who post on here are nothing more than wanna-be's who have discovered that they will be never-be's because of their shitty attitudes....

Im not bashing you and probably dont even know who you are, but man being angry, hateful and a little disrespectful is allowing for those of us who have no life, no job, whatever to piss on you.
Ive been pissed on, banned from this site because of some terrible things I said. I also almost lost my job because I got a little pissy and said some rather nasty things about a public figure.
Since July, I have been waiting for a project to come together, yes its frustrating, I want to have another project so bad, all but sell my soul for it. But its a continual work in progress. I hate waiting, I hate the fact that somewhere out there some ppl think Im not good enough to be a frontman, but someone does or I wouldnt have been asked...all that being said, my suggestion to you is to tone it down about five levels, remain calm....all is well....because in my honest personal opinion, you keep going at it like this, NO ONE is going to pick you up...just an observation
Having talent is one thing....what you do with it is something else

I can sympathize completely. I've been playing for about as long as you have and, because of my non-mainstream taste in music, finding a band to play with is virtually impossible. I've had the same problems you have with people saying one thing and doing or being capable of another. So I understand how frustrating it can be.

But if attracting people to your cause is the goal here, I'd have left the anger off the forum if I were you. One thing almost any experienced musician should be used to dealing with is ego, be it too much or a lack thereof, and such self-righteous hostility sounds like bad ego. I'm not saying this is how you actually are, just pointing out that that's how your posts seem.

I do totally understand, though. It's frustrating as hell trying to accomplish what you want to and other people constantly mess it up for you, but I believe perseverance will pay off, so keep at it and you'll get there.

I met one of my bandmates on this forum, and it has thus worked out great. It can happen.

However, I agree with everyone that without a location, genre, resume, etc. Probably not going to get far. For instance, how do I know that I am within the 3 hour travel requirement? I may be 3 1/2 - 4 hours away which may disqualify me. I could also be the second coming of Pat Metheny at jazz guitar, but if you are looking for Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth then I am probably not your guy. Also dedication and collecting a paycheck are not the only things involved in being a "professional musician" I have been a part of many projects that paid me well, and I never missed a gig or rehearsal, but I HATED the music.

As far as the "wannabe" comment...maybe instead of coming back to our "wannabe website' with your tail between your legs under a new screen name branch out elsewhere. Submit your resume, demos, desire to travel, gear list, etc to management, record companies. Surely someone of your stature has these connections?

Wow, like alot of people on here I am neither in the clique. In fact there are only about 6 people on here that I either know in person or have met. The rest are just screen names to me. Im still not understanding why someone of your magitude would come on a site asking for help and advice from us "inferior beings"

My dad said two very important things to me when I was a kid:

"No matter how good you think you are, there will always be others better. Keep that in mind"

"You only have to be an asshole once for people to get the message"

RattRace wrote:I am a pissed off drummer tired of musicians who are not dedicated, who are not willing to travel, who are not willing to practice, who say one thing when they really mean another or who play games and string others along for their sick pleasure.

If there are any dedicated musicians on here who wish to play and make money, who aren't afraid to travel, practice, and do the work necessary then please feel free to hit me up. Please don't waste my time or yours with senseless attempts at bashing me or my post as so many of you have a knack for doing on these boards.

Although the majority of you are happy to play a few shows a month, using minimal production, with minimal practice, some of us do desire more than just that so please let those of us who want more from it have the freedom to express ourselves honestly and openly without ridicule, mocking or bashing.

Regards,
RattRace
Mark,

I feel for you. I am not offended by your remarks. You want to find people who think like you do. In your attempt to find like minded musicians, you managed to "bash" several segments of the Rockpage Community. So you should expect backlash.

Some, like myself, are weekend warriors. We hold full time jobs, yet our passion for music is equal to yours. Some of us have a talent equal to yours. We are as dedicated as time permits. You managed to bash us because we are not committed to our art full time.

So yes Mark, I (we) ARE dedicated too. But life is multi-faceted and some of us are dedicated to family responsibilities among other things as well as are dedication to our art.

It's a shame that you want to look down on those who appear less dedicated than you.

We play a few times a month with a small PA but that is not an indication of dedication or lack there of, as you alluded to.

I would suggest if you want to make a living playing drums, use the contacts you have made during your career. Perhaps move to Nashville, LA, Atlanta, since you don't mind traveling, you won't mind moving either, in order to fulfill your destiny.

The Rockpage community is diverse and wonderful. But if you post with a chip on your shoulder, someone on here will knock it off for you.

I wish you the best of luck, but tone down the attitude and you will be better off.

Bill

Rockpage as I am finding out seems to be like a big happy inbred family who puts up a barrier and doesn't seem to welcome anyone who isn't in the immediately family and you can see the intelligence that inbreeding has produced on here...

Night ya'll and know that if you divorce your wife she'll still legally be your sister, or mother, or aunt or uncle, or brother, or father, depending on your sexual preference...
You are welcome to remove the proper noun "Mark" from my post and insert your name. The rest of my post stands to any condescending musician who doesn't recognise his own arrogance.
