Behringer V-Amp who uses them?

I been looking between the Behringer V-Amp and Line 6 as my processor. Is there anyone here that uses a behringer? If so how is it? I was looking at the prices of them and with how cheap they are. I did read some good reviews on them, and I talked to Chris Silva last night about it. He uses one and said they are pretty good.

I am just curious what everyone thinks? Would you go with a V-Amp or Line 6 and why?

I owned a v-amp for awhile. It wasnt horrible, but it wasnt great. Its pretty fizzy and digital in the gain dept. That kind of stuff can be tweaked to an extent. When using live to switch between patches...there is a lag with the midi footswitch that they offer. Just enough to be noticable. I couldnt stand that and sold it. Seamless preset transition is a MUST!!!!

Id go for Line 6 if youre going with a processor. the HD series, X3 series, or the xtLive. If I were you, id either go with an X3 series or the HD series. The new HD processors dont have NEARLY as much as the older X3 processors have. The X3 and X3 Live have WAY more amp models & effects.

Go Line 6!!! You wont regret it!
Any Line 6 is more expensive than the behringer v-amp...but youll quickly discover WHY. Its night and day!!

I have 'em both - plus the VAmp Bass unit. The Berringer stuff is probable more "amp sounding" as far as frequency response goes, but has a lot of digital distortion (not the good kind). Connectivity options are great. The Line 6 is cleaner, better effects, but lacks bottom. Plenty of high-end bite. I found myself closeting the VAmps and using the Line 6 for effects only thru a loop. Ya just can't beat a Deluxe Reverb or Vintage Marshall when compared with a digital toy!

Keith I did find out how to eliminate the lag between switches. if you use the same amp mod it is seemless. if you however use 1 for distortion and a different one for lets say clean, it will have a slight lag.

I dont think mine sounds to fizzy?

Frank its all in what you want to spend and what your intentions are. I think for you, its a perfect little start to creating a rack for the money. I have no complaints with mine other than the support you might get with behringer. (NONE). but hell, if it breaks, buy another! Its like any other amp, you gotta play with it till ya dig the tone.

Thanks for the info guys, price is what I am looking at. I would like to start a rack, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg right now. I seen a lot of people say that they got it mostly because of the price. They look like a line 6, have about the same thing as a line 6. I think maybe, like Chris said, it would be a good start for a rack. I can always upgrade later?



I also like the idea of a processor and a power amp with a cab. this is going to be a hard decision. The same thing happen with the guitar choice .. lol

I haven't used the V-amp but Keith is right. Line 6 is amazing! It is NOT, however, something you can just pull out of the box and have sound great. It's not for beginners. The factory presets get you started, and they're really not hard at all, once you get going. I have a POD X3Live and it is the best thing I've ever plugged into. I'm very curious about the HD models, but, as Keith said, they don't have nearly as many mods. I know the X3Live has 32-bit A-D/D-A conversion, which I think is good enough. As a plus, the X3Live is actually a dual engine processor, so you can mod 2 entirely different things at once. (or one thing twice)

Amp models, effects, USB connections, & tweakablility...you just cant beat Line 6.

Go to some product sites and listen to their demos. You'll instantly know which you should buy.

First, I would like to thank who ever put this in the right forum. I should have done it

Second: I spoke with my wife and she gave me permission to get one or the other next month. So I am going to go with a Line 6 HD500.

Third: I want to thank Keith for the great chat last night, he really helped me in my decision ..

All I need to do now is decide on a Power amp and Cab. I am going to do like Jeff suggested. My only thing that I can't decide if I want to use a tube power amp or a solid state power amp. I keep hearing one way or the other is the best. We can discuss that one here as we go.

I been looking at some HD500 Demo videos on youtube. The sounds out of that thing are amazing. It may only have 16 amp mods, but each of those amp mods have a slew microphone choices and cabinet choices, so you can have hundreds of different sounds out of one amp mod. I also notice that what they did was take the top 16 amps being used and just updated them. That is all someone needs. This system is really bad ass.

Have any of you used the M13 stompbox modeler? We had them when I worked at the Emporium, and I loved how easy it was to use, as well as how it sounded. If it had an expression pedal, I'd have one for my lap-steel rig. (I have the prerequisite volume pedal, tuner, and compressor steel players use, but it'd be cool to have that all in one.)
I have a Pandora (Korg?) that sounds great into an amp, and a Johnson J-Station that seldom gets any use. I bought it because at the time, people were raving about them... I've taken it to numerous shows with the idea of using it, and it never gets past soundcheck. It sounds just awesome in headphones as a practice unit, but I could never get it to sound acceptable into a guitar amp OR direct to PA. It comes off as grainy and plastic-sounding, one-dimensional, like a recorded greeting card. They still hold their value though, I guess, so somebody likes them, still.

yeah, those m13's are nice units. The HD models have all the exact same sounds modules as those, plus some.
