Mesa Question

Post by Merge »

Hey folks, I'm hoping someone can help me. I just got a new Mesa single recto 50 watt solo head. It was on clearence when it was bought, so it does have some hours on it. I'm having trouble getting the efx loop to work. Is there a tube that specifically controls the efx loop, that might need replaced??
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

Thanks, that was a little helpful. The efx loop on my amp isn't controlled by the footswitch, it's always on. There's a blend knob that allows me to add between 10%-90% of the effect to the dry sound. I just can't seem to get the efx loop to work. I've tried everything that I can think of.

I did go to Mesa's website, and read the manual for the amp I have. I connected things the way the manual says, yet I still can't get it to work. Can anyone think of something that I'm missing??

i've been told that if someone plugged it in wrong before, it can damage the circut and that input jack will not work...

I'd call Mesa directly-I hear they have great customer service and they do have the best warranty around, plus they have a qualified repair center in State College.

I sent an e-mail, but I haven't heard back yet. If I don't hear back this week, I'll call.

did you test to see which of the FX connections is not working?

you can test the send by connecting the FX send to another amp & speaker

you can test the return by plugging your guitar directly into an FX processor and connecting its output to the FX return.

Remember that this is a parallel FX loop and you have to crank the mix control to get sound from the return jack to the power amp.

If neither jack works, chances are that either the tube is bad or one of the components to its common supply pins is bad. There aren't any other components that would kill both jacks.

Aside from that, there are only a dozen or so parts to the FX circuit and they are all pretty cheap...mostly resistors.
...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
