Hmmm...Say it ain't so.
Hmmm...Say it ain't so.
It looks like Johnstown will be losing a well known music venue. Word has it that Dougherty's has sold and will be turning into a restaurant. This is the most recent word on what will be happening. Things may change and bands might still be able to play there. Keep your ears peeled...

Let's just see what happens...That has been a rumor that I first heard a year ago. Part of the rumor though was the people that were going to buy it were going to do the restaurant thing but were still going to have live entertainment on the weekends. If that happens , the only downfall will be like Aldo's in Altoona(if its still the way it was years ago) you can't make any noise till after 9:00. I hated soundchecking while people were there. Also if it happens lets hope they keep the heavier scene...bands like Rennis, Deviance, etc do not get a lot of opportunities to play in the Johnstown area and losing the heavier scene or any style of music you lose balance...too much of the same thing with no options if you know what I mean. I would not want to see Dougherty's go but if the change did happen and they stopped having bands the only positive thing is that it would be one less place in Johnstown. There are too many places to go right now and majority do not have entertainment and its those places that seem to get all the people. There are not enough people in Johnstown to cover all the places to go on the weekend. All of you in bands know what I mean, when there are 2 to 3 good bands playing on one night...all 3 bands suffer.
