What is a good one available locally that records sound fairly well ? Not looking for a top dollar either just something basic
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.

Somebody told me they really like the Zoom recorder that does video... makes sense, because Zoom is basically an audio company, and this is their only video recorder. I think R2B2 uses one.--->JMS

The Zoom is nice. Has twin condeser mics on it.

I use a 8mm Samsung cam corder.

The Zoom Q3 HD is the way to go if you are looking for something to record your shows or rehearsals. It is set up to handle higher sound pressure levels than a standard video camera and the video quality is excellent.

If it is something that is a fast and easy way to record shows, then I would go with the zoom as well. Otherwise, I would go with the canon ...

The alesis video track looks promising and is about $50 cheaper than the zoom.

That thing is garbage. I do not suggest you even consider it. Both the audio and video is sub-par at best.
