HOMEGROWN ROCKER 10/24/10 (SCORCHED)

Post by Jim Price »

Hello Everyone,

Here is the recap of the October 24 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).

Thanks to our guests this week, Blairsville-based family band Scorched. Featuring dad Floyd, mom Dawn, and their children Kaitlyn and Brandon – Scorched introduced us to their musical world and shared their story, and we checked out several songs from their soon to be released CD, Frozen. Along the way, we debuted new songs by Steel Hollow and Nichols & Pavic, updated “Local Music News,” reviewed The Feens’ self-titled CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and pulled a 1993 song by State College’s The Pinch from the archives for a “Local Music Flashback.”

Here is this week's playlist:

HOUR ONE:

THE HOPE FALLACY – “Behind Closed Doors”
HELLO, VIXEN – “Grandpa’s Medicine”
SCORCHED – “Tears of the Moon”
E.V.K. – “The Angry Song”
SCORCHED – “Brave”
STEEL HOLLOW – “Fugitive’s Mind”
SCORCHED – “Sapphires and Diamonds”
NICHOLS & PAVIC – “Time Lost”

HOUR TWO:

SYNESTHESIA – “Lake of Fire”
SPIRIT LOST – “Dreams”
SCORCHED – “Won’t Be Free”
THE FEENS – “Everything In Between”
SCORCHED – “Dead 2 Me”
THE PINCH – “Don’t Know What” (1993, Local Music Flashback)
SCORCHED – “Sorry”

Again, the Pittsburgh Steelers will pre-empt the “Homegrown Rocker” next Sunday, October 31, when they take on the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in a Sunday night game. The “Homegrown Rocker” will return the following Sunday, November 7, when our guests will be rising Pittsburgh heavy-rocking force Synesthesia. We’ll learn Synesthesia’s story and hear new recorded tracks from them; we’ll also update “Local Music News,” review another new local CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner,” and dig another “Local Music Flashback” from the archives! Synesthesia visits the “Homegrown Rocker” when the show returns on November 7!
