Jack Lambert (back in the 70's) suggested that the QB's wear skirts.

I believe they are mostly and from every report I have seen is the helmet-to-helmet hits....but I hafta admit that there have been some hellish hits this past weekend.....i dont know if they are suggesting to take away hard hits...the game would lose its flavor...i dont think roger wants that....

Yea, but they were talking about spearing, and also leading with the shoulder pads..and how aggressive the hit is...i hope they don't fuck it up.

Just a few players, like Harrison, fuck it up for everyone. These fucking guys are animals. They should not need to hit people like that to play a fucking game! Pisses me off that they do that kind of shit! You saw those hits! This guy is a dick.

I don't think the helmet to helmets with Harrison were intentional, but 2 within prob 15 min. of each other. I'm a Steelers fan, and grew up watching the Iron Curtain. I do agree with TornandFrayed, you can tackle a guy without trying to dislocate all of his vital organs. Younger players seen this and it trickles down to college, high school, and even pee-wee football. You're going to see more and more good players get seriously hurt.

Tough topic. Anyone who played football as a kid, through high school or beyond was taught from the word go to give 100% on every play. Now you are going to ask guys to go at something less than 100% once they get to a high level? Many problems in this scenerio. How about injuries to defensive players who hold back or limit the extent of their blows?

No question that leading with the helmet is inappropriate and should continue to be restricted to protect both the deliverer and receiver of the blow. Intentional helmet to helmet contact also needs to be restricted. There is no question about the dangers and longterm health impact of mutliple concusions.

I agree that deliberate and flagrant attempts to injur or hit unprotected palyers should be dealt with firmly and players who engage in this behavior should be fined, suspended, and possibly charged criminally depending on the situation, but........

In the all out confusion of a high speed full contact sport with high level athletes it will be nearly impossible to eliminate incidental helmet to helmet contact.

I don't see how you can restrict takling by leading with the shoulder pads. This is the model of form takling!

its going to be like baseball. they will have a strike zone from above the knees to the shoulders. in that zone you can hit as hard as you want. this only affects defenseless players. a running back can still take any hit since they can see the hit coming and act accordingly. I don't know i think it is good since there was a lot of injuries so far this year, and i would rather watch the starters then the shrubs. no offense Painter lol.

Not that I think it will happen, but I was watching Around the Horn last night, and I think it was kinda interesting when the host said that someone suggested playing football without helmets. I kinda laughed but that would be kinda interesting. Someone else was saying that if you hit someone intentionally and the person would be out for some time that the player who hit the injured player would be out the same amount of time.

Well, first they need to quit paying guys so much money to play a game. Its insane how much guys get to play a GAME. What a waste of money. Some Kids in this country dont have any food, but these morons make millions to catch balls and take showers with eachother.
If you take away how much these tools get paid, maybe they will quit trying to ruin a GAME by making it WAR. Its not war assholes, you just took a shower with 50 dudes, and now youre rolling around on the ground with other guys.
If they paid these fools 30k a year and nothing more, you'd see a BIG change on how they act on and off the field. No more hard hits, because they couldnt afford the fines. No more date rape from lame QBs because they cant afford legal fees. Not to mention the attitude alot of them have.
They all forget its just some game. No problems get solved. Nothing good happens. Just throwing and catching a ball. I think they need to be treated like ball catchers instead of superstars.

i was listening to espn today and a good point was made. these hit are already illegal, no one is taking the punishment seriously, so they up the punishment with a suspension. they are just prevent a potential disaster before it happens.

as for the players making too much money, the average player only plays until they are 35, then they retire. what do they do after that? go to their college career if they havent taken too many head to remember what that was or the training to do it. Also if you watch a lot of pregame shows, they show a lot of players giving back to communities that are poor and have nothing.

I totally agree with PMAC. If you can't tackle with the upper body then allow tripping. What other choice do you have.

Hopefully they were smart enough to save or invest their money instead of blowing it on booze, drugs, whores, cars, houses, or diamond covered toilet bowl brushes.

I cant feel bad for someone who got millions of dollars, then wasted it...and now have none left. If I had millions, the first thing id do is invest the bulk of it. THEN id blow money on booze, drugs, whores, and everything else.

Ah... you beat me to it Keith...so I'll add this...

Construction worker (residential/commercial), grocery store clerk, business entrepreneur, ESPN analyst, a coach, referee, salesman, do commercials, TV reality star, actor in action films, Radio DJ, voice overs for cartoons, real estate agent, a cop, fitness instructor, TV/Cable/Satellite technician, join a band, computer repair, Wal-Mart door greeter, a pilot, lawn maintainence, janitor, counselor, preacher/pastor, truck driver, or Arena football star.

I'm sure there's a few more, but that's off the top of my head.

Kieth, you should know that the majority of the sports stars who end up with that kind of money aren't looking for any type of long term financial future ..

As far as everything you said, I agree. Any smart person would invest the bulk of it, and then spend the rest on things they want.

The average length of career in the NFL is 3.3 years. Most players come and go without any headlines. You only get to know the few stars that last 10 years or so.

I was watching the news and they said it was from Head to Head. It takes affect this week.

They also were saying that James Harrison got a $75,000.00 fine this past weekend, stemming from a incident pertaining to what they are eliminating.

I seriously don't think this was something that they just came up with. I believe it has been on the docket for a while now ...

It's not like they just get to play a game...they bust their asses to play in the pros, and you gotta be good. You can't suck. So they are getting paid what they are worth...can you do what they do? Do you know any one person that could go out there and do it? Anyway, football is about laying hard licks on the opponent....fucking cry me a river.
