Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the October 17 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our guest this week, Dan Klock, the singer, lead guitarist and conductor of area “psychedelic hoedown” journeyers Mysterytrain (www.mysterytrainlive.net). Dan recapped Mysterytrain’s just-completed outdoor festival season and previewed what the band would be doing during the winter months. We heard new live Mysterytrain footage, recorded July 31 of this year during the group’s “Summer Campout” event at Berry Farm in State College. The footage included the expansive 23-minute-plus “Flow River Flow,” which sets the new record as the lengthiest piece of music ever aired on the “Homegrown Rocker!” Along the way, we debuted a new song by Mouths Of Babes, updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Adam Blessing’s Voices, Times and Places CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.”
Here is this week's playlist:

In Local Music News…
Altoona-based modern rockers Rain Must Fall are preparing to release their new EP. The recording, called Black Dirt, will be issued at a special CD-release event November 19 at Aldo’s; the event will also help raise awareness about hate crimes and bigotry stemming from several recent incidents in the news.
A band that graced the stage of downtown Altoona’s “Summer Sounds of Jazz” concert series in recent years is going their separate ways. South Saturn Delta will play their final show in December after an 11-year run, before the band members pursue other projects. As for the members’ future endeavors; singer April Iorio and guitarist Dave Fecca will continue on in their new project, April Mae & the June Bugs, keyboardist John Tiberi will team with April’s mother, Silva, in the projects Rio, Cocolopez and the Larry Geiger Trio; bassist Jerry Mayall will perform in the bands Warm Whiskey and Scotch & Soda; while drummer Shane McMartin will continue in an Irish rock band called Five Quid.
With the holiday season not far away, one Toys for Tots benefit has been announced. The annual Pennsylvania Musician Magazine-sponsored Toys for Tots benefit at 30 Something is being expanded to two days this year, and will happen on Saturday night, December 4, and Sunday afternoon, December 5. Both days will feature a number of area bands, donating talents to raise money and toys for the U.S. Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program. Bands confirmed for the December 4 show include A Beautiful Mess, Represent The Lie and Ganister; and groups confirmed for the December 5 show include The Ultramagnetic, Rain Must Fall, E.V.K., Felix & the Hurricanes and Mysterytrain. More groups for both days will soon be announced.
Rusted Root drummer Jim Donovan is bringing one of his percussion workshops to the Altoona area. The Ecstatic Drum and Chant: Transformation Workshop will show participants beneficial mantras, cathartic drumming rhythms, rejuvenating breathing exercises, and other concepts that can be used in everyday life. Anyone 17 and over regardless of musical ability may take part. The event will take place on Thursday, October 28 at Bloom Yoga and Wellness in Altoona. For more information or to register, visit Jim Donovan’s website, www.jimdonovandrums.com.
