peavey bandit 112 volume issues

I have a Peavey Bandit 112 with volume control issues. I usually play with the volume on 1. Sometimes I can bearly hear it, if I just nudge to volume control it gets very loud, like it is on 3, nudge it again it may drop or get even loouder. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like dirt. Probably half of all electrical problems.

Go to NAPA and get a $5 can of electrical contact spray, pull out the chassis and spray (using the provided tube) into a small opening in the potentiometer housing and work the knob back and forth...

While its out, you may as well spray all of them. This is standard maintenance on amps.

thanks for the help, I'll give it a try. Its a combo amp so I gotta figure out how to get the guts out.
