The Ranch Tavern?

Post by JayBird »

Does anyone know what's up with The Ranch Tavern? I tried going to their web site today and they've exceeded their website bandwidth. So it won't load until it's paid. Then I tried calling their number and it's been disconnected. Any clue? I see that bands are still showing bookings for the place.

Ever Since Yesterday played a show up there ( If you are refering to the Ranch Tavern in Howard ) with Wake Up Screaming back in Febuaray. As far as I knew, it was still open, but as we all know, a lot can change in a month.

We(SimonSez) played there in...december, I think, and they had trouble paying us. We haven't booked there since, but it's possible they're finding bands if they're still open. Check www.bar411.com and you might find a list.

I mixed a show there last fall and several people claimed the law was stopping patrons leaving the bar. They claimed that this was hurting the place who knows ??

Too add a little fact to this the bass player for the band that night was stopped after leaving the bar. All this happened before the show ever started! This was while taking a freind for a ride in his new car. Thank god he hadn't touched a bottle and broke no traffic laws.

John Law has been watching that parking lot for years. Of course it constitutes harassment by a law officer, but he was sitting there when I played there 15 years ago, and he'll be there 'til it closes. I'm a very loud critic of idiots driving after drinking, I can't imagine anything more stupid and childish, but law enforcement, especially local yokels, have no right to harass people who party responsibly. What a load... the Ranch was a cool place, and I wish them luck.----->JMS

My band (wake up screaming) plays there once a month. Last week I talked to Kim the manager and she said they were having serious problems with their website. (she didn't specify) The phone number has changed to the above number and to my knowledge things are running accordingly.

I've heard all the negative stories about the Ranch, but we enjoy playing there. Kim usually only pays bands the door, but if you do good, then you make out. She has always been fair with us and treats our band and crew very, very well. It isn't packing em' in like it did in the 90's but we're starting to get a decent draw. (it takes a few times!). Good luck, hope this helped a little.
