Al Sharpton 3,000 - Glenn Beck 500,000 ...
The number of people who turned out for the gala at DC yesterday: 3,000 showed up at Al Sharptons rally, and 500,000 showed up at Glenn Becks rally. That is staggering. Did anyone from here go? I would like to have but couldn't.

Sharpton can be an idiot sometimes and he doesn't have his own TV network to advertise for months ahead of time.
Martin Luther King promoted peace and attempted (his whole life) to take out the wedges that divide. Glen Beck promotes fear and creates wedges and reasons for his followers to hate _______. Fill in the blank with hate of the day.

Did you listen to the speech, or just take what MSNBC said and leave it at that? He had no political agenda in it at all. He didn't even say anything political - In fact it was a Religous message. MLK's family even backed him up in it. So the divide he is causing must be the way that the left sees it, mostly because they call anyone who doesn't agree with them and listen to their point, and follow them, a group of people causing divide.Hawk wrote:Sharpton can be an idiot sometimes and he doesn't have his own TV network to advertise for months ahead of time.

MSNBC will say anything that is not on their agenda to indoctrinate people in to thinking that obama is the true messiah. They are not a real news station, never have been and never will be.

Hmmm
Anyone ever read the bible? Anyone here really proclaim themselves to be a Christian? Cool...
Division is what Beck is about, can't argue that. I liked his speech I wish that he would stay on that track... But...
Back to the bible and revelations... It is suppose to suck!
We are not at the return of the Garden of Eden quite yet. We are suppose to be pitted against one another and the Devil comes wearing a really nice suit! (Obama, Beck, whatever!)
So help those you can, make your own decisions and live for life and the people whom you love. It will be cool.

No I did not read / hear his speech. I'm sure though, that you heard / read Sharptons.
I haven't watched ANY political show for weeks nor have I listened to any radio political shows.
Since the Supreme Court has changed us to a corporate representative democracy, none of us will ever actually choose a candidate again. The Right Wing got their way. Now we ALL have to live with it.
I'm talking about the decision to allow any cooperation to spend as money as they want for OR against any candidate they want ! Joe, you got your way as you trust corporate America more than the government. HOWEVER NOW THEY ARE THE GOVERNMENT.
We can't even get a bill passed that would allow us (USA citizens) to know who is spending and how much they are spending. IMHO that one single decision is the beginning of the end for the middle class.
And since I haven't seen any politics for weeks, these thought are obviously my own, unlike you.
I criticized Glen Beck based on the Glen Beck shows I've previously watched. If he made a change...cool. But based on how he twists the bible to suit himself, I wouldn't pay much attention to what he says anyhow.

Glenn Beck, a talkshow host, drew a bunch of talkshow fans to a rally, on buses paid for by some really rich guys. Other than being oddly Messianic, Beck really didn't say anything that would matter to anyone but his fans, so it's much ado about nothing. Find Friday's Daily Show monologue on Beck on Youtube... much better than the sermon.

remind
Remind me one more time how any of this is suppose to bring us together?
How any of this is suppose to help unemployment or to keep our Country strong?
The conversation has to change. As long as we are apart on these things we are not together. As long as we are not together we are weaker. As long as we are weaker we can easily be controlled.
Beck is a guy whop wants to tear everyone apart. Obama has done nothing.
Neither is any better or worse then the other, although I have not given up hope in either of these people.

Actually, it is the liberals who are tearing people apart. When you don't agree with them they right away tell you that you are stupid, retarded, a bigot, a racist, a islamaophobe, a homophobe, a moron, out of whack, mentally ill, not right in the head, and what ever insult they can come up with. They have nothing to go on and can't defend it, so they have to cop to the insults and accusations to try and get their point across.tornandfrayed wrote:Remind me one more time how any of this is suppose to bring us together?

They also call people who are against them Astroturf, and want to investigate anyone who is not with there stance; case in point, Pelosi wanting to investigate anyone who is against the Mosque in NYC. In reality, it should be them who are investigated. This organization is the most corrupt in history.
When the left learns to play nice and quits the childish bull, you will see a more cooperative country.

As for the vacations - Obama works for a day and takes a ten day vacation.
Beck and Sharpton aren't a competition, they are completely different people. I just found it interesting that that many people would show up to a rally when the left claims to be the true way of life.
Look at he recent gallop poll - Mid Terms have the libs at 41% and Repubs at 51%. They are saying that this could be the biggest win for the Repubs in history. It will be interesting to see how it turns out ..

I am personally against the mosque near ground zero. But if you live by the constitution like you claim, you support it wholeheartedly.
Where do you get this about all of the name calling from liberals ?
What do you think of the Supreme Court ruling I mentioned ?
I'm telling you now. With the recent Supreme Court ruling, the Democrats (or anyone who wants to regulate business) is gone forever. I know the Dems are done. You will get your way. We will be a one party system. You can stand up and cheer.f.sciarrillo wrote:As for the vacations - Obama works for a day and takes a ten day vacation.

You are just upset because you know that that many people would never show up at a Olbermann rally. Face it, this country is not a liberal country. We are a center right country. The policies that are being shoved down our throats, and the direction this government is taking us is doing nothing but infuriating people.Hawk wrote:What a joke, you didn't find it interesting. As for the Supreme court ruling you are talking about; I agree with the ruling. The fact that big corporations, ie; Big Banks and Labor Unions, will not be able to bribe politicians makes it better. It will also lessen the fraud within the government.

Yes about Beck. Propaganda about Obama and it's wrong.tornandfrayed wrote:
Beck is a guy whop wants to tear everyone apart. Obama has done nothing.
Obama had numerous accomplishments in his first year
Passing stimulus, generating jobs. On February 17, 2009, Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus bill into law. In December 2009, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office issued a report estimating that "in the third quarter of calendar year 2009, an additional 600,000 to 1.6 million people were employed in the United States" due to that legislation. According to the White House Council of Economic Advisers, CBO has increased its estimate to 800,000 to 2.4 million additional employed through the fourth quarter of that year. Moreover, a November 20, 2009, New York Times article reported that the "consensus" among "dispassionate analysts" is that "the stimulus package, messy as it is, is working," citing nonpartisan analyses of gross domestic product and total employment figures by several companies specializing in economic forecasting. Further, a January 25 USA Today article stated that, according to its "quarterly survey of 50 economists," "nemployment would have hit 10.8% -- higher than December's 10% rate -- without Obama's $787 billion stimulus program," adding, "The difference would translate into another 1.2 million lost jobs."
Eliminating wasteful spending. Obama was able to achieve some significant cuts to wasteful spending -- most notably, the elimination of the F-22 fighter jet program after he successfully lobbied the Senate to vote to strip out financing for more jets from a defense funding authorization bill. The Washington Times reported on January 14 that Obama won "60 percent of his proposed cuts" and also managed "to get Congress to ax several programs that had bedeviled President George W. Bush for years."
Sotomayor nomination. On May 26, 2009, Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court to replace the retiring Justice David Souter. She was confirmed by the Senate on August 6, 2009, and sworn in August 8, making her the first Hispanic justice, and only the third woman, on the court.
Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. The first bill President Obama signed into law, on January 29, 2009, was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which expands the rights of workers to sue employers over wage discrimination claims.
SCHIP expansion. On February 5, 2009, Obama signed a bill expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to cover 4 million more lower-income children.
Public lands bill. On March 30, Obama signed an omnibus public lands bill, which The New York Times reported "allows for 2 million more acres to be declared wilderness... [with] more than 1,000 miles designated as scenic rivers, and adds land for national trails."
Credit card reform. On May 21, 2009, Obama signed into law a bill providing what USA Today called the "most sweeping changes to the credit card industry in 40 years," adding restrictions on interest rate increases and fees and restricting the marketing of credit cards to college students.
Transparency. The Washington Post reported that moves by the Obama administration to improve government transparency "included a ban on lobbyist gifts; restrictions on the hiring of lobbyists; publication of White House visitor logs and other records; and a move to bar lobbyists from serving on advisory boards." A report by Common Cause, Democracy 21, the League of Women Voters, and U.S. PIRG stated that: "The cumulative effect of the Administration's actions has been to adopt the strongest and most comprehensive lobbying, ethics and transparency rules and policies ever established by an Administration to govern its own activities."
Tobacco regulation. On June 22, 2009, Obama signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which, for the first time, gave the U.S. Food & Drug Administration the authority to regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of tobacco.
National service. On April 21, 2009, Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which expands the scope of AmeriCorps and provides opportunities for young people and senior citizens to join in service programs.
Stem cell research. On May 9, 2009, Obama signed an executive order easing restrictions on the use of federal money for embryonic stem cell research.
