Webmaster, maybe start a "Thank you" discussion
A good number of these posts in the General Discussion area are topics saying "Thanks, <fill in name of bar/band/person> for being so awesome to my band!!". It's just a thought, but maybe a specified topic area set aside for THANK YOUs would be helpful.
i'm not complaining, just a thought.

i should get a Smiley cookie sometime. you are right though, my posts always seem negative. sorry!
it was just a suggestion, i hate a cluttered forum, and THANK YOUs! clutter a general discussion. because really, how can the general population discuss or reply to a thank you?
all smiles,

I know I am guilty of dishing out thank you to places and people after some of our shows. Perhaps a Thank You page wouldn't be a bad idea.

Yeah, everytime I read one I picture someone puckering there lips and kissin someones ass. They are basically self promotion plugs and sucking up to the bar owner and they probably should have a place outside of the general discussion forum. There really isn't much of a need for that on here since it is mostly musicians and not a fan based site, although I understand there are a few of the more dedicated music fans that visit.
But on the other hand if we throw everything out of the general discussion forum what will we have left
Perhaps the Thank You's should be directed as a follow up on your upcoming show post ???? Not a seperate post but a reply on your original show date post?

I had a bar owner contact me and tell me thanks for posting a thank you on Rockpage. She was pleased to hear about it.

My thoughts exactly...there should be somewhere else to put them for sure....tonefight wrote:Yeah, everytime I read one I picture someone puckering there lips and kissin someones ass. ::shrugs:: I disagree.
I like looking in the forum thread general discussion and seeing plethora's of things in here. "Thank you's" don't overwhelm the board, and yet they stand out so nicely. I know I wouldn't bother going to a seperate section to see "Thank you X for having us yada yada yada" because it would be more of a bother to me. A three second laziness save...but hey, being honest.
Plus... if you only have
Thank you X
Thank you J
Thank you L
Thank you D
Thank you Z
Thank you M
Thank you S
Who will bother to look at days and times and stuff. It will all run together and people will get tired of "thank you" titles...it's the whole repetitive monotony thing.
That is just my opinion. You don't have to agree with me or you can.. just my thoughts.

i just think that it isn't able to be "discussed" and that is what a discussion forum should do. it was just a little suggestion, it doesn't bother me, it would make the forum flow better without the Thank You threads with zero replies.
maybe instead of thanking a bar, club, promoter, etc for a specific event... there could be a section devoted to these places. There would be topics like "Peter C's", "Hitching Post", "Aldo's", etc. and the band or person would reply to these bars or clubs to say thank you. that would put the good clubs in the spotlight even more.
the more i write, the more that sounds like a good idea. "Club Corner" or something. people could check to see if the clubs get good reviews from patrons and musicians. good advertisement for clubs, good way to find the good clubs to play for bands. AND no more useless thank you threads!
that may work.

I would like to thank Jim Price for being so dedicated to us all. I really appreciated the review of our show at Aldo's on thanksgiving weekend. I would like to thank Frayed for being so professional when we had them down to Lewistown to open for us at The Log Cabin Inn. No Limit can honestly say that we made great friends that night. I would like to thank The Log Cabin and The Wilderness Lodge for their hospitality. I would also like to thank the musician of another band who takes down our flyers for our future shows. Great promotional tool.(sarcasm intended) You know who you are.
