I am sad to pass along that it has been announced in the Post Gazette today that Glenn Pavone has lost his battle with cancer.

I am saddened by this news. I recently talked to Glenn and his band mates at Thunder In The Valley before their show. Glenn, while appearing weak, played great and was so grateful to be performing and appreciated all the support and prayers from the audience during his illness. Over the years, every time I spoke to Glenn, he was extremely nice and gracious. I really enjoyed hearing him play again. He was a fantastic guitarist and wonderful person.

RIP Brother. so sad. got to talk with glenn a few times, he was a seetheart of a guy. i'll always remember last thanksgiving at the aces, me and felix leaning on the rail and glenn pulling out a wicked solo and we just looked at each other like: gaddamn. back to the drawing board! he was such a great musician and really nice. will be missed heavily.

man.... just took the wind out of my sail for the day... gonna go throw on R.U.L.E...and take it all in.

RIP Glenn and thank you.

Needless to say, I am very saddened by this news as well.

I caught Glenn's performance at Thunder In The Valley, and his playing was incredible! I read that getting out and performing again lifted his spirits and helped him deal with his battle.

I only regret that when I attended the Pittsburgh Blues Festival a few weeks ago, that I was coming through the gate just as the Pittsburgh Blues All Stars, with Glenn performing, was finishing their last song.

No doubt, there will be some Glenn Pavone music on the "Homegrown Rocker" this Sunday!

Here are a few pictures of Glenn I took during his Thunder In The Valley performance in late June:

I remember Glenn from the Billy Price era and I was knocked out then. Finally got to meet him a few years ago at Thunder in the Valley. He was so cool, just a very sweet guy. My heartfelt sympathy to his family, band mates, and friends.

We opend for him at Thunder in the Valley a few years ago. What a fantasic guitar player. He should have been on the national stage.

RIP Glenn. You were an inspiration.
