Is this OLD news ?
I just read this online, I have a feling that I am a bit behind but none the less I am saddened by this to be sure .
According to a post on Live guitarist Chad Taylor's blog, the relationship between lead singer Ed Kowlalczyk and the other members of the band has soured to the point where the members of the band "will never play a show with him again." In a blog posted yesterday (11/30) on Taylor's website at http://allthingschadtaylor.blogspot.com he stated that Kowlalczyk is no longer considered a member of the band after reportedly leaving the three other members of the band out of a publishing deal that Kowlalczyk signed in 2005 for the band.
"There was a hidden publishing contract singed in 2005. I personally discovered it via a communication breakdown," Taylor explained in the post. "Ed is listed as the only signature. When I wrote him to find some resolution to the situation, he failed to respond. Ed was able to stab his three best friends from middle school in the back. This act was far down the line from typical rock star ego. As you can imagine I am deeply hurt and wounded."
Taylor went on to explain that Kowlalczyk reportedly requested a $100,000 “lead singer bonus” to perform with that band at a festival earlier this year.
"I was informed of his request by our management and politely told them to 'fuck off,'" explained Taylor. "Ed will no longer be the vocalist for the band LIVE. At this point in time, we have made no official plans to replace him but it is clear that he is no friend of mine or the lifelong fans of LIVE."
Taylor says he will focus his time on the recently formed band The Gracious Few, with Candlebox frontman Kevin Martin. Initially believed to be a side project for Taylor and his fellow Live band mates, The Gracious Few may become a main gig for the band members in light of the recent news.
Meanwhile, as reported yesterday, Kowlalczyk will continue to tour on his acoustic 'Open Wings Broken Strings' tour, predominately playing Live songs acoustically. Kowlalczyk could not be reached for comment on Taylor's blog post at press time.

I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

Wow. I always respected Kowlalczyk as an artist, but if this is true, I just can't respect him as a person.
I wonder if I could get a free two drink "bass player bonus" at the next gig I play.

I just heard something about this a week or two ago on the "Harddrive" program. Here is a story about The Gracious Few from the York Daily Record:

I always wondered what happened to that band. I guess I now know. No offense to frontmen out there, but what is it with their egos sometimes? Seriously. Creed, GnR, Days Of The New, Live,... I mean I understand the turning point of fame and all, and having some strong self-confidence is great for a frontman,... But come the fuck on!
On the other hand, having a listen to The Gracious Few, I'm digging it. Not the same kinda stuff as Live or Candlebox, really. But sounds good!

Wow, I used to really like Live too. By the lyrics, you'd think he was a pretty upstanding & spiritual kind of guy, but that's just a Class-A dick move!
I'll have to check out The Gracious Few, sounds interesting. I was a huge Candlebox fan back in the day, as well.

Happiness is like peeing your pants. Everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.
I have a bunch of the Kevin & The Hiwatts stuff (Martin's post-CandleBox thing). Really like it. The other guitarist, Hennesy, in TGF, was in it.
Have been following this for...geez...a while. Still waiting to see what I think. Stuff seems okay, but...not sure.
I really like Live, CandleBox and The Hiwatts (And even Pete Klett's other proj, Redlight) so have pretty high hopes/expectations.
