Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the June 27 edition of Rocky 99 and Rocky 104.9's weekly local music program, "The Homegrown Rocker," which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on WRKW-FM (www.rocky99.com) and WRKY-FM (www.rocky1049.com).
Thanks to our guests this week, Chris and Lori from The Underground (www.theundergroundtv.com) and Matt and Steve from Rock For Life (www.rockforlifeconcert.com; also the band After The Fall, www.atfrocks.com). At The Underground’s studio facility, we discussed the upcoming first-ever Underground/Rock For Life Music Festival, taking place July 9-10 at the Iselin Ballfield in Iselin (between Indiana and Saltsburg). The show will feature 19 different hard rock and metal bands, including representatives from Relapse and DRP Records. Proceeds from the show will benefit Rock For Life, an organization that helps western PA youngsters who are battling life-threatening illnesses and conditions. We learned about the event and featured music from some of the participating bands, and two lucky listeners won pairs of tickets to attend the festival! Along the way, we debuted songs from As Summer Dies, Mose Giganticus, After The Fall and Ninetail. We also dug a 1986 song by Johnstown’s Apollos from the archives for a “Local Music Flashback,” updated “Local Music News,” and reviewed Second Best’s Wall Street Is Dead CD in “The Professor’s CD Corner.” A busy show!
