I totally agree with you, but if you were a big named band, would you want to come anywhere near Altoona? Hell nooo.. The sad thing is people will go and enjoy listening to that shit because ac/dc is ALL I hear on rocky; which is verrrrryyyy annoying. This town is forever stuck in the 1980's musically.

Would you rather they have NO shows at all?? They are trying to re-organize this concert series after most likely losing money every year prior to this..........
They are doing what they can to provide some entertainment in ALTOONA, PA..
And did you notice that every show has a LOCAL band opening?
If it's not your cup of tea don't go,, but quit bitching when they are TRYING to do SOMETHING in the area

They had good thing going with Wednesday night shows; I think that weekend shows are only going to spread the regular Saturday night bar-goers out even more. I went to a lot the first few years, then last year I didn't go to any.

I see what you are saying, but I believe that most of these shows end early enough that people will be primed to catch more live music after these shows... I know of a few after show parties planned at some spots in the city.
These shows are also all-age, so you can expose the little ones to live music before they get 'Hot100cized'

I have absolutely no interest in seeing this tribute band (in fact If I went it would be more to see Half Tempted which I haven't seen in forever and I do like them) or any of the other 'stuck in the 80's' acts they have going there, however I absolutely agree with the comment above! Also I agree with tom that is is nice when people can take their kids to see live music, it is really important for them. So many people don't even have stereos in their home anymore so the only music experience these kids might get is nasty videos and such.

seriously Tom,lighten up,my problem isnt that they have these shows,im glad locals like ronny and the boys, flight 19 and others are there because altoona does need to rejuvenate its local scene.my problem is the fact that the museum was given that much money when it employs what, a dozen people maybe, was the money given to them to hire bands to attract a crowd for a half dozen shows during the summer,if so its a piss-poor waste of yours and my tax $,money that could be used to help business' just starting or struggling in the area to increase tax base not a museum that just brings railroad enthusiasts a taste of history.hell i went to few shows and will probably go to more.the fact of the matter is these shows werent brought here to boost the local scene they were brought here to sell tickets and who doesnt want more bang for their buck?Iknow I do,and by the other posts I think they do too.Besdes a little BITCHIN doesnt hurt anyone.Peace out brother

I just can't take a concert line-up seriously that doesn't have a Men Without Hats tribute act on the roster.

Your friends don't dance and if they don't dance...well they're no friends of mine. 8)

I look at it this way...not a lot of people or kid's for that matter will EVER see Ac/Dc or Kiss. These tribute band will give some of the area kid's the opportunity to experience a "Rock n' Roll Show" from band's that I have to admit are quite good. Not to mention seeing the local groups that mom or dad can tell them about....See the chain reaction here? Participation in the enjoyment of music AND learning music makes for a better behaved student....that's why I support VH1's SAVE the MUSIC and am trying to get the Rock the Walk Instrument Drive up and "running".....plus, it's only $5 to see GREAT local band's open up for COOL Tribute bands...having worked for Cold Gin back in the 90's I'm a FIRM supporter of the "Trib's" PLUS....
It's FUN ! ! ! Lighten up.

Was ONE HELLUVA SHOWWW!! Even as it rained !! What a good time.
Half Tempted were EXCELLENT as ALWAY's and Ron and the boy's kept the crowd ALIVE with AWESOME songs from KISS, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix....although I enjoy the way they cover AC/DC...we didn't get any of that for the obvious reason. My four year old danced like I never seen her dance before...ROCK the WALK guy's your Fantastic!!
Live Wire....one word....WoW!! Even the rain couldn't slow this "Rock n' Roll Train!" These guy's ARE 100% dedicated to keeping the Ac/Dc Spirit ALIVE!! The Angus fellow was ALL OVER THE PLACE...if I didn't know any better, I's say I was watching the REAL THING!!! I just can't wait for The Original KISS Army show....

Thank you for the very nice compliments. :D
We always have fun playing the bigger shows and we try to give it our best. I'm glad your little girl had a good time! I'll bet she's a sweetie. Thanks to Brian McConnell for getting our sound happening, that always makes the gig even more fun. I hope the rest of the shows this summer go as well as this one did. Thanks again!
