Steve McCulley passes

Post by Jim Price »

I learned this afternoon that Steve McCulley passed away earlier today.

I don't have details about the cause of his passing. He had been dealing with some back and hip issues the past few years, and had some medical procedures done.

I have many pleasant memories of Steve from seeing him at Half Tempted and Korruption shows, and went to a concert or two with him as well.

Definitely a sad day for the local music scene. My heartfelt condolences go out to Denise, Steve's family, friends and musical associates.

God bless you Steve and your family. I had known Steve for a long time. He bought a drumkit off of me and we hung out a bit back in the day. We had a memorable road trip to Chuck Levin's together and he was always a sweetheart. It was with mixed emotions that I took over his drum duty in Half Tempted after some health issues prevented him from playing regularly, but I was hoping he would get better and come back strong. He was a good friend and fellow skinsman and I'll miss him terribly. Rest in peace Steve......

Here are three photos of Steve I took over the past few years. I'll try to find a few from his Korruption years later...

I don't know what to say...like Clete, this makes my heart "extremely heavy". I too have such good memories of Steve. I never saw him that he didn't greet me with a big hug and a smile. He always made me laugh. I cut a lot of musical teeth while Steve was around. I'll never forget clowning around with him in the Mort's basement during band practices or at shows, or whenever...catching up with him at Tom & Joe's or at Sheetz. Then there was that infamous car ride back from State College...

My condolences go out to Denise, Ryan, and all of his family...

R.I.P. Steve...you will be missed.

Totally stunned. Steve was a really good dude, and one HELL of a drummer. Knew him since back in the Korruption days, and always admired his playing. Wow. Just...wow. God be with you, my friend. Be blessed.

My last memory of Steve is seeing him and Denise in passing, grocery shopping and briefly saying hello...of course there are other memories from Half Tempted shows. As most have said, he was a sweetheart and will be sorely missed. Heartfelt sympathy extended to Denise, their families and close friends.
